Craziest hunt

Many years ago, my cousin and I decided to try hunting Nebraska coyotes at night by moonlight on snow covered ground. We snuck through frozen irrigation ditches to section centers covered up with an old white sheet and tried calling. First 2 sets produced nothing. 3rd attempt we couldp hear the coyote running towards us on the crusty snow. When we thought it was close enough my cousin said “NOW!” And we threw the sheet off and popped up. Him with a 6” model 19 and me with a 12g pump. The big maglight came on and we were looking at a coyote looking at us still about 80 yards away. Too far.
Se we moved a couple miles and made another set in an irrigation ditch. THIS time we heard a coyote running toward us and my cousin whispers “wait, wait..., wait..., NOW!
We through the sheet off and sat up just as the coyote hit my cousin in the chest and jumped right over us. Scared the heck out of us. Between being spooked and laughing at ourselves we never got a shot off.

Was a sitter on a deer drive once, perched on an old stump in a fence row. The brush at my feet was thick about two feet out. I began to hear yelling from the driver that was in front of me but he was far enough away I couldn't hear what he was saying. I was staring intently over the top of the brush when a big skunk bolted out of the brush at my feet. He froze and I froze. Tail shot up. We regarded each other like this for what seemed like a long time and then ever so slowly he inched over and put his nose on my pant leg. He stopped and just held it there for a bit and then arched his back like a cat and rubbed around and in between both my legs rubbing his head and back as he went making little noises. He done that until the driver got close enough to scare him off and when he left I went the other way. Driver asked me if I seen that big skunk coming at me and I said, "Yes, yes I did. For about 3 or 4 mintues."
