Also these drop from a single cavity brass mold that looks to be a custom mold of some sort. It is slow going one at a time, but they drop fat (.315) and they are 115gr. and sized to .314.

So, how much Bullseye is actually in the case ? Also, could you show a picture of just the bullet ? Just curious as I've never seen a bullet seated that way.

It's actually Unique powder.

F9306A8D-13DA-4297-B5FE-0D3BBAB6FC26.jpeg The bullet on the left is the RCBS 32-098 SWC and on the right is the mystery bullet (I have strong suspicion it is for a 32-20, but works great in my .32 S&W-L and .32 Mag loads)

I roll crimp over the top of the shank right above the lube groove.

They are cast from clip on WWs and lubed with my home made Moly/Beeswax lube.

.32-20 makes sense, if you think of that large top grove making darn sure you don't get bullet set back in your tube feeding rifle.

nice looking bullet.

any idea what sort of velocity you get in your .32 S&W Long and with what length barrel and those bullets?

what range was that group shot at? EDIT: oh dopy me I processed 7Y as seven years, sometimes I think to hard

PS - Amazingly, "nonplussed" is a word the spellchecker here recognizes, whereas it objects to "defence". Computers are hard to understand.

Nonplussed doesn't sound as dangerous as "defence", who knows who programs these things?

Defense is also the common spelling in the US.

As far as visible rounds, I work at not giving up the element of surprise.

Thank you.

I only shoot these out of wheelguns. Barrel length is 1 7/8 (snub) to 3in in the Longs and 4in in the magnum (Sp101)

The velocity in the book is right over 800 FPS. I think that'll do for a J/I Frame gun for defense purposes.

The speed strip is stuffed down in the pocket. The tab is only slightly visible for retrieval.

Case is full of Bullseye powder and bullet is crunched down on top (Really?)

P.S. Bullet is properly seated.

Hey, you're the one that said really smart OR really dumb. For all we knew you pulled that image off the web.
Glad it works for you though. I've considered speed strips myself but haven't made the switch yet.

Cool thread. After reading the posts, we see the relationship between daily loadout, reloading technique, ammunition loaded, dressing around the gun, and probably other aspects of carrying a gun.

A lesson learned late is still a lesson learned.

A lesson learned *too late*... is not. It's negatively enforced experience.

Todd.

Lots to learn here.

The only downside I ever found to keeping speed strips in the watch pocket, was finding them later banging around in the dryer. Happened a lot too. :)

Magically stopped when I stopped using speed strips. :p

Been there many times, my wife would laugh, never had one not go band either.

I swear I’m not an idiot, but I still don’t get it. Did a question get answered, or a problem solved? A confession? A teaching moment? What just happened here?

I've carried speed-strips in my watch pocket for years.

But then I grew up carrying a pocket watch in the them, so I was used to actually using a watch pocket.

I've also used them to hold my (unlit) pipe back when I still smoked.
