I have my tried and trusted Local Shop selling Them for $389 new. 38, 357, & 45acp.

I been looking at this press and I LIKE it! also the conversation die kits are $100 from Dillion.

What do you fine people think?
 
Fantastic machine and if you found one in stock, you better snag it! Mine went over 60,000 rounds before Dillon rebuilt it for no charge.

Dam! that’s pretty much seals the deal. now if I only had a .45, 38, or 357

I do see a .357 in my future, also a .45acp CZ :)

and a .38 too
 
I have all of those set up and 45 Colt too. 45 Colt is just a little too big for my fat fingers to easily load on the SDB. It works but it's easier on the 550.

on their interweb page they sell conversion calibers for $109. I might be reading it wrong

I have no plans of selling either of mine, they were much less then than they are now. Once the 550 came out, one could have two SD’s setup for two different calibers cheaper than one 550 for one caliber.

Now the SD costs more than the 550, looses its appeal to me at that point.
 
Dillon is a fantastic company and their warranty is second to none. Took 1 of my 650’s to Dillon a few weeks ago for a overhaul. Walked out with a new 550. Got a call from Dillon yesterday. My 650 is being shipped back to me at No Charge except for the freight charge.
 
Great little machine.

remember, it doesn't do rifle, and it takes proprietary dies.

the 550, and 650/750 take regular dies, and can do rifle.
 
I have three Dillon SDB presses. They are set up for 45 ACP, 9x19, and 380 ACP. They perform well.

I have a cartridge change kit for 38 Special but the 38 Special cases are too long to verify that powder has been charged to the case so I no longer use it.

I resize cases and clean at one time then store the cases for a future loading session. When I need a run of the cartridge, I prime off the press then charge the case and seat the bullet on the SDB.

I do not change the load of the cartridges that I reload on the SDB presses. The presses work well.

As a side note, I’m not comfortable with the primer systems on any of my metallic cartridge progressive presses. They do not meet my reliability requriments as I cannot verify the primer has been properly seated before moving to the next step.

My Dillon SL900 shot shell press has the ability to confirm a primer is presented propetly to the hull and is the only progressive press that I am willing to prime on.

Besided, my batch/progressive reloading operation is not much slower than what most folks claim they do on their progressive and I have zero rework. Besides, I still reload more ammunition than I can shoot.

Great Write Up! thanks you man!

I’m going to get the .45 ACP to start. I have 3 press on my bench already but I could always use more.

very excited about getting a Blue Press!
 
I found it more convienient to swap out a “set up” SDB on my bench than make the cartridge change. Hence, I have three SDB presses.

When I bought my SDB presses, a cartridge change kit with powder measure was about half the cost of the whole press.

It made sense for me for cartridges that I never changed the load.

I guess the small size of the SDB might be its only limitation. It is a little harder to work with due to the small size if the press.

But, for the cartridges that I use the SDB presses for, I have no plans to move them to a different press.

I seen that you can buy the whole tool head thing and have everything ready. I like that! i’m going to buy it maybe tomorrow and post pics
 
I have 2 SDs, 45 and 357
And one 550 multi cal
Playing with buying a third SD for 9mm
OR
Buying 9mm SD conversion and moving 357 to 550
Decisions Decisions!!!!!!!
