Consider bullet profile as well. If I load some precision delta 124 grains I can go much longer as they are a taller bullet that is narrow and pointy compared to the rmr which is shorter and fatter. Depending on bullet the shorter lead may not be realized

Edit. In checking notes a comparison
These are my firearms and your own test needs to determine your oal. Never assume there isn't a typo from internet postings and double check all measurements.
Rmr 124 mpr jhp in shadow 2 i load to 1.060
Rmr 124 mw truncated I load to 1.075
Precision delta 124 jhp in Shadow 2 I load to 1.088

The springfield i have noted on the rmr mpr jhp as 1.070
Rmr on left precision delta on right. The ogive or profile changes the oal.

Yes, I've run into these differences as well - most especially with aftermarket flat nose. Not only will the profile be different but so will the shank length, and therefore the need for plunk or gauging. Dealing with .355, .356, and .357 bullet diameter and different shank length will most definitely effect OAL.

But, these don't really change the throat, But, no matter. Thanks.

Late to the conversation and I reviewed all 3 pages and didn't see this particular issue specifically addressed:

The original poster said his sized brass case without the seated bullet would not chamber. Because CZ cuts thier Chambers to CIP specs you NEED to make sure the case OAL doesn't exceed .758". CIP Chambers only allow a .004" variation in brass length to where SAAMI spec Chambers allow .754 - .766"?? I'M m going on memory here so double check these. But for sure CIP chamber max length is much shorter.

The original poster needs to make sure he sized and non-flared brass can chamber and allow the gun to lockup first before dealing with COAL with a seated bullets that has been discussed in length already.

Good luck, I dealt with this issue with a friend's CZ.

I would get a cartridge headspace gauge. it makes all the critical measurements at once. Did you ever confirm the actual bullet diameter w a calipers? also, measure the diameter of case mouth each time you adjust the die.

The OP stated in post #9 that his cases won't chamber he needs to find out why and correct it.Not much use worrying about COAL or bullet diameter till he gets sized cases to fit.As far as a gage yes they work but can have their own issues its easier but I'm not sure its better and I have them for a lot of cartridges

Maybe I missed it, but where did the brass come from? New? Range pickup?

I would take an empty, sized case that doesn’t fit and mic that case mouth to head to make sure it’s in spec. I wonder if there might be a bulge near the case head?
