It's been one year as a gun owner

Thats a remarkable accomplishment. Welcome to "The Brotherhood". I saw where someone suggested taking pictures and recording serial numbers and thats a great idea. But I also suggest buying a gun safe if you haven't already done so. For the cost of 2 or 3 ordinary guns or 1 high end gun you can get a decent safe. Most affordable gun safes are not real safes but even so they offer one more level of security. Keep up the good work!

Have you been bitten by the AR bug as well?
How about the 6 & 6.5mm long range shooting bug?
Can I introduce you to Trap and Skeet?

Neat story. Welcome and congrats.

Though I can't help think you are the single person responsible for the current ammo shortage. ;)

Congratulations!

Ammo, ammo, ammoooooo ... they need to be fed and used. You've gone and done it now; there's no turning back. Time to look into reloading.

Glad you're fired up.

Mars51:
My Czechpoint VZ-58 in early 2019, followed in Dec. 2020 by a S&W 908 and 6904 (both GB)...seemed like a lot.

>>>> Until our “Heavy Gun Metal Guru” appeared. Lines from “Monty Python’s Holy Grail” come to mind ...about the unwashed “rabble”.

Wow, forty in one year! And I thought I was bad with my "One Gun a Month" plan!

So I have to ask the obligatory question: do you have one favorite?
honestly my most shot firearm is my Taurus Tx22, its just fun, cheap, reliable, and accurate. My Henry Levers are fun as well and when I bring one with friends to shot they all seem to love my golden boy .22. I think i enjoy letting my people shoot my stuff more than anything.

I have an AR just to have an AR, its a Sig thats been kept pretty clean as far as accessories go for AR. I have an AK just to have one. I have been meaning to start a thread along the lines of " guns every one should have owned at least". There are similar discussions on a knife forum im on as well. I don't think there many places around here to enjoy long range other than 100 yards. Either private ranges or have your own land it seem. I've been sporting clay shooting twice as a company outing. I've enjoyed and that was long before I bought any gun. I was a decent shot especially for having never fired a shotgun or done sporting clays and hit around 28 outta 50. I finally get a shotgun of mine to use just waiting for friends and co-workers that want to go since a large range is close to me. I probably have a 1k rounds of target loads that I stock piled before even getting my shotgun.

Theres a lot of photos in my member gallery that usually get linked in the "last gun you bought thread"

Making up for lost time, bless your wife!
No kids, no wife, a car thats been paid for 10 years ago. Though I do have a lot of other hobbies I still back and forth with.
It is exciting to hear your story and feel the excitement bouncing off the page. At age 74 I still feel that excitement. Nothing else is quite like it. We here at THR are happy for you and thanks for inviting us to your anniversary party.
I kinda do miss that feeling when I decided I was finally going to buy a gun and stopped into the store thats literally a block away from my work. Plus the feeling of finally picking one out, paying for it and finally bringing it home.

Congrats, if you haven't already I would consider investing in a safe next.

Tell all your friends.
Depending what you mean like how enjoyable shooting can be yes but on the other hand better to keep things low key also, certain friends, family, co-workers , facebook, twitter they don't need to know to a extent in my opinion.

Some folks might not be real happy with the shortages right now but for all of our futures, enjoying firearms, the more the better. If they were as common and as accepted as fast food restaurants, things would be cheaper, on every corner and a subject only some looney would come up with wanting to ban, like sodas that contain more than 12 oz...

I did get caught up in panic buying guns just incase I couldn't find them later.
Me too, same experience. Except that it was the deals that I thought would vanish, not the guns themselves. As of last July, there were still a handful of things out there at the old prices. Watching them disappear from one hour to the next put me in a panic.

And as cheap as the guns were, throw in holsters, brass and lead, dies and whatnot and good grief it adds up fast.

Way to go on those Berettas. I hold the Px4 Storm in high regard , and I shoot steel plate club competition with my 92 Vertec.
I'll give you a temptation - check out the predecessor to the 92 , the Beretta model 1951.

Enjoy.
Given what was around for sale last year, I'd bet you he's got one already.

Anyone who dabbles in military surplus should consider the Beretta 1951. Aside from being the predecessor to the 92 it has no great historical significance , but the controls are interesting , it has a true sa trigger , sits in the hand and points really well , and is a fun shooter.

(I'm a bit off topic , but not as far off as the potato chip diet.)

My story has some similarities. After owning exactly two guns for 40+ years I got re-interested while searching for something to occupy my time after my wife died a year and a half ago. I bought 7 guns in the next couple months, got my carry permit again (I had one many years ago but let it lapse), then joined a club with some good outdoor ranges. Then I started into reloading.

As it turned out my timing was great. I was able to stock up on reloading supplies before the panic hit and therefore I'm in pretty good shape for ammo and supplies to make more right now.

Unlike most members of this forum, I'm pretty much content with the guns I have now. I can't say I'll never buy more but there's nothing I really want at the moment. Actually of the 9 guns I own there are 3 that I shoot all the time. I think I'd be content if they were all I had. I usually go to the range twice a week and if it's the club range I shoot my AR and if I go indoors I shoot my 9mm and .45.
