Recommend a Discrete Long Gun Soft Case

Hazard4 makes a couple that might work. I've had a Battle Axe for a while. It fits an AR, a pistol and assorted mags, etc.

The best discrete cases are found at junk stores, flea markets, pawn shops and those other places that cause your significant other to cringe when you go in. Look hard enough and you will find some old sports bag/equipment case that suits your needs perfectly and is already covered with stickers from some little girls music recitals.

I used to have a large guitar case that I got from a Goodwill shop for $10 or so. Worked great for transporting firearms if I added some padding around it, like gun socks.

I've used some old guitar cases. I didn't want to leave my AR in my truck, and I didn't want to draw attention to myself walking thru a hotel lobby. It worked great. Now days I use a Pelican Case 1600, It requires I break down my AR and angle the upper diagonally in one layer and then the lower fits easily across the length of the case. There is still lots of room in the case for other stuff. I use it to travel on airlines. It works great. It's just a great big camera/equipment case. No one takes much notice of it. It is totally absent of any gun related stickers, I do put stickers on it when I find a good one.
For a short time I considered a travel golf bag. I'm not a golfer and that was very apparent to me when I went to price the golf club travel bags. When I saw the price of those golf clubs and they were multiple time the price of my guns, I abandoned that idea. Seemed to me more likely someone might target my "clubs" for theft sooner than my gun case. But the pelican case has been the ticket for me for many years now. Mine is a light grey, they didn't have color choices back when I bought it. If I had to do it over today I'd go for the yellow.
If I ever run into any stickers for keyboards I'd be all over them. They would look great on my Pelican, I have some other "discreet" cases but they scream gun case just in appearance some stick on keyboard patches would be great for those. I could see some La Rue velcro patches in bright festive colors saying La Rue Keyboards, or Stag Keyboards.

What ever you get put a peace symbol and maybe a biden harris sticker on it. Or one of those coexist sticker's.

Having an apartment in Manhattan I understand your concern. I use a Golf Bag Cover rather than a gold bag. Saves a lot on weight.

Golf bag or a baseball bag. The ones that hold bats should hold a carbine or riot length gun.

For folks who use a guitar case, it works best to play music a bit on the loud side and have band and/or equipment stickers all over the guitar case. A used case may already have that look. Play that music a bit loud though for a chance to sell your visible story (and to annoy Peggy in 4a who is nosy as all getout and needs a chance to fuss about something other than the cats)

A cardboard box for 4' florecent light fixtures. That's what I use when I make a move.

I'm only commenting because this thread resurfaced, but was the case you were using before more tactical looking than the bag you just bought?

I can't imagine there is anybody that doesn't think that is a rifle case. I'd be surprised if the 75 year old grannie walking her Dachshund down the street doesn't ask what kind of optic you're using on your AR.

I haven't yet looked into the actual feasibility of these things, but last night a buddy mentioned tennis racket/court bags for this purpose.

A quicky image search leads me to believe some of these things could be made to work. If they are tennis racket shaped with sports logos on them that makes them better still.

That would be perfect for a dp-28 & a pair of drum mags.

I didn't know "Wilson Combat" made tennis racket bags.....but it makes perfect sense!

I used the tennis racket bag, but tennis racquets are high on the list of things people will steal. I wanted something that wouldn't scream "steal me" like tennis and guitar cases. I used the bag from a 2 man tent for a while. My latest iteration is a yoga bag. It actually has a sono-tube inside to hold it's shape and the upper is wrapped with a short piece of floor mat to keep it from rattling around.

Now understand this isn't for going to the range, it's for carrying a rifle in the car on trips. Taking it in and out of hotels the only comment I've gotten was a desk clerk told me the exercise room was closed for renovation but I could feel free to use the pool area.

Of course this only works for a gun that breaks down, which of course all ARs do.



Here's the yoga bag before I put the tube inside. Also note I changed from a pistol to full rifle. The rifle I felt would be
more "acceptable" in some jurisdictions than the pistol. Extended takedown pins. Foldable sights. Cut off pistol grip.

Stealing tennis rackets is actually a thing? The idea is the tennis/rifle bag will not be even set down.
The benefit of a Wilson bag, in that style, with that font...is it is utterly unremarkable to 99.44% of people.

The only improvement would be if it were a gray bag with white and black lettering. Mentally invisible.
Years ago a Connecticut company called "Waller" made superb gun bags. They favored gray for that reason.

Seems like you could make one if you had access to a sewing machine.

With that said, have you thought about using a hockey gear bag? Something like this?

I had one of these but it only worked with a pistol length 18" +/- or with the LAW folder, right now I have the UTG standard black bag about 24".
