Guns you own but don't like.

My Makarov. I was telling my wife I thought a cheap Makarov would make a good carry gun, so she bought me one for Christmas. Except it was some sort of commemorative, with a nice, deep blue finish and oversized walnut grips. Just no fun to shoot. I would rather shoot my son's Super Redhawk in .480 Ruger than that miserable little gun. Someday I'll get around to selling or trading it.

I just got rid of my two Bulgies mostly to downsize and make some cash. They were fun to shoot but I hated the way the magazines don't just drop right out when you thumb the release. I'll keep my Radom "Wanad" in the same caliber till the end of time though. Much better design,,IMO. I love that little poor man's PPK on steroids!

How many of you have a gun you don't like but for some reason have not gotten around to selling/getting rid of it.
Mine is my Springfield XDE 9mm, nothing wrong with it I just don't like it.

I'll take it off your hands. I like mine, and it's the only gun my son wants to shoot. Been looking for a second one for a while. (Funny thing is, when I first bought it, I didn't like it, but it grew on me.)

As for guns I don't like...I'm learning to let those go. I used to say "never sell a gun," and I have regretting selling guns, but lately, I've been getting rid of the guns I don't like. Top of that list was a Remington Nylon 10C Mohawk and a distant second was a Ruger 10/22.

Only gun I ever had that I found I didn't like was an S&W M-59. Didn't like the aluminum frame. Bought and S&W M-659 in 1985-still have it.

Ditto! Mine was the first gun I ever sold inspired by hate. It was the nickeled version. It was so thick I had to turn the gun in my hand to reach the mag release. I also hated the "reverse" safety. Just couldn't get used to that. I also bought a 20Rd 59 mag for my KelTec P11(P 11 takes 59 mags)...and the mag actually fit the KelTec but not the 59 it was designed for! That was the last straw. Oddly I found it to be fairly accurate in spite of all that.

Ruger 10-22. In my opinion it is the most over rated firearm in existence. I have about a dozen old .22lr rifles and at least as many .22 pistols and my 10-22 is the least accurate and the least attractive of the bunch. The wood is cheap, the barrel band is plastic, the trigger is godawful, and it only likes a few brands of ammo. Yes, I know it can be customized with an endless supply of aftermarket stuff but in its out of the box condition it is a joke.
A cheap Marlin model 60 will outshoot the 10-22 by a long ways. Ill never understand how the 10-22 got so popular.
I'm guessing its because it may have been the first gun for a lot of folks so it probably has sentimental value.

They used to be all metal with beautiful stocks and decent triggers. I had mine for years and cannot guess how many rounds I put through it and it still drove tacks. I used to live by a dairy farm and did raccoon/rodent control with it for the farm.
I was in a bind and sold it, then years later was absolutely floored when I bought a new one. Plastic crap everywhere, crudely shaped stock with machine marks and rough gritty finish and an absolutely garbage trigger. I even went all out for a laminated stock SS version this time. What a disappointment.

The trigger is probably because of lawyers, but the crappy cheap plastic and disgusting finish is just to make maximize profit. I had to rub the stock with steel wool to get the dust out of it and then oil it. The trigger was so bad it's impossible to be accurate, so I bought a Volquartsen target hammer to get the trigger pull fixed.

A long time ago when I was a kid, I worked at a machine shop that made things for Bill Ruger, and I can say he would NOT be a happy camper.

There ought to be a subsection here..
"Guns you own but aren't really thrilled with and would trade them if something else came along"...

I have a bolt action Mossberg MVP Patrol and it's nice enough, accurate, simple, well made and not expensive. I would always like to have something in 223/556, don't really want a AR type, so the Mossberg it's fine but really doesn't blow my skirt up.

Like many people I hate getting rid of guns that I acquire. But, the two that jump to my mind are the SCCY 9mm Ver 1 and my Bulgarian Mak. Both are miserable to shoot.

I would trade the SCCY in, but I put a new trigger in and made it worse. Too lazy to change it back and get rid of it.

I am a pistol guy, don’t have much use for rifles, though I own many.

Four pistols come to mind that I could not hit dirt if I tried. I think the designs were mostly good, I just got stuck with lemons. I really tried hard to make these work; I mean I gave them 2nd, 3rd, and 4th chances.

SW 659
Taurus PT 111? in 45 acp. A svelte looking 45, not made anymore?
CZ 97
Browning Hi Power in 40. I have 3 9mm HP’s that I love.

Edit: sorry, I didn’t follow the OP’s rule. It took me so long to read the thread, I forgot the premise. I got rid of those pigs long ago.

I have an Astra 400 I dont care for and a P1 p38 clone that's eh to me. The effort it would take to get rid of them makes easier to leave them in the safe.

Remington Viper semi-auto .22. Ugly plastic stock with integral scope rail that I could NEVER get sighted in, and a 10 lb. trigger to boot. Bought it for my son when he was in his teens (now mid-30s), just never got rid of it. Probably couldn't stomach the thought of someone else having that trigger. Also a Rossi 20 ga/.22 single barrel swap gun. .22's fine, but that gun is so light that anything but the lightest handloads will flat beat you up. Handy as all get out (small), but not fun to shoot the shotgun.

So, I won't keep a gun that if I don't like it. I'm sure someone else will. But I do have a guilty secret, a gun I own and I'm supposed to not like, but I do.

My extra fugly "desert" camo HiPoint carbine in 45acp. I know I'm supposed to turn my nose up at it, and I do laugh every time I look at it, but I just love the homely little git. I put a clamp-on compensator on it and a red dot and it's still 2.5-3" at fifty yards but it's so much fun to run a mag and it's just so homely that I love it. I know that when I get to the Pearly Gates, St Peter's upper lip will curl into a sneer and he will damn me to Hell forever, but I have a HiPoint carbine, and I love it.

Don’t ever apologize for owning a Hi Point. Especially one of their carbines.

Ruger PC Carbine. Bought it because I was going through a phase and thought it filled the niche. I will admit I wasn’t right and will likely sell it if I can.
Just doesn’t excite like the others.

The Cobray M/11 is the least liked gun in my collection. It's pretty much useless as pistols go. I bought it on the cheap as a conversation piece / trade bait. Funny thing is that the Panic has increased its value more dramatically than almost any gun I have.

The Kel-Tec PF9, S&W 38 Bodyguard were my least favorite pistols. Both are gone.

Oddly, there are now a number of PF9-sized pistols that shoot very well with manageable recoil. The PF9 sucked at both. Oh, and the slide on my PF9 cracked after ~500 rounds! Just a terrible design.

S&W 439 Nickle, comfortable to carry, digests everything, I can't hit anything with it bigger than a grapefruit. But years of carrying it tucked into my belt has taken its toll on the finish, and its trade value is low.
