The one thing that's preventing your favorite from being perfect: What is it?

For me...

My Daewoo DP51 safety is too small. Taking it off is alright, but I cannot engage it in a shooting position.
Otherwise, its pretty good.

My Colt Combat Elite that was rebuilt by Wilson Combat with bluing from Doug Turnbull: I wish I installed a Bomar rather than a Millet rear sight, and had an arched MSH. Otherwise it is spot on.

Well, where to begin. I have several favorites, but I will just discuss two right now.

These two:


Glock 45
Smith & Wesson 327 Night Guard

The trigger on my G45 needs tuning or replacing. It’s just not quite what it should be. I did replace the sights with Tru-Glo TFX fiber optic / tritium night sights. I installed a Glock Store longer takedown bar and extended mag release.
If the trigger was better I think that would make this one “perfect” for me.

The only thing that my 327 needs is a differently configured front sight. Right now it wears a factory tritium big dot (white) front sight made by XS sights. It is a very nice sight. It’s just that there needs to be a little more black showing around the big white dot. Not enough contrast.
If I could find a similar sight with more contrast I think my Night Guard would be “perfect” for me.

My SIG P320 Carry only holds 10 rounds. It's not the pistol's fault; it's the state that I live in.

My Colt Competition 1911 in 9mm; wish it had front cocking serrations. Could add them, but it's a blued slide sooo..I'm waiting for my stainless finish model to arrive.

That it's chambered in 9mm, and not 10mm or 38 super.

I'd like SIG to make the 320 Carry models without rails and front cocking serrations. Then, they'd truly be "Carry" models and much better looking.

Okay, so that's two things, not just one... sorry.

P226. Slide lock lever is in the wrong place for me I have to train my right thumb to stay off it, and I've even installed a P224/legion slide lock lever (which is now too abbreviated to be of any real use). Still the best semi-auto pistol in the world IMO.

On my favorite of all my semiautos, my 9mm Tanfoglio "Mossad" Witness/CZ clone, it would be for it to be perfectly pretty again, like new, no more scuffs/shiny spots with perfect grips, a lighter DA trigger (though it shoots great already) and for it to have some new night sights to replace the factory ones that weren't great to start with. The rear one isn't a big deal, but the front is just a dot painted on a little depression of the cast in front blade. I would have to have a gunsmith do some machining on it to put a replaceable blade on it, if I wanted it that bad. I just took some nail polish in a bright blue and put it on there, works for pennies. I did have some glow in the dark paint on it, but in the daylight, it was worthless. I do have some rubber grips for it, but the almost checkerless ones pictured (after I got it, I refinished/cleaned the grips and they lost a lot of the checkering) feel great. That's not a negative, IMO, I don't like over the top grip texture of most checkered grips. As bad as my hands are at this point, I have no issues holding onto my guns. No "cheese grater" SW grips for me!

That Colt does not make the Woodsman any longer.

Amusingly, somehow, shooting my Wilson EDC X9, still thumbs forward, on the safety like a 1911, managed to cure me of the slide lock issue on my 228.

No idea how, wasn't intentional at all.

My P365 (and sw500 for that matter) doesn’t have enough muzzle blast to melt the snow that is hiding all the 9mm cases I need to load soon

Digging cases out of the snow sucks. Probably the primary reason I shoot less in the winter.

My most favorite auto that is not a 1911...

It took a lot to get this CZ75 from the Berlin Rod&Gun Club in the mid 80's to here and along the way, it lost its finish to a pot of dishwater on a stove in Pakistan.

What feature keeps it from being perfect? I melted that factory black-chocolate finish off with hot water and dish soap and have no idea where the factory grips are.

OK, that's two features and neither is at the feet of the manufacturer so maybe, I've just disqualified my own damn self.

On second thought - it is in fact that feature on the part of the manufacturer that kept It from being perfect and not me and the dish soap. If it came from the factory with the finish of my favorite VZ52 - it'd still be beautiful. So there CZ - my 75 was *imperfect* from your loading dock, da-gummit!

Easy. Chronic light primer strikes on my cz-52.

A three inch barrel for my Python.

I wish the factory base pads were just a tenth of an inch longer on my Sig P365XL to make speed reloads a bit more certain with a full mag. As it is they sit flush with the bottom of the gun and sometimes my palm hits the frame before the mag locks in.

The magazines for the Glock 43X were obviously an after thought. They feel and look bad. I've sanded the sharp corners round so they don't bite into the meat of my hand.

The M1911 does not suffer from imperfections.

I cannot relate to this problem.

Hmm, must be the reason the 1911 has more mods and customization than any other gun made.

( I’m not a hater, but an almost 1911 fanboy)
