No doom and gloom allowed in here, what are you hopeful or looking forward to in 2021?

A Tikka T3X Arctic Canadian Rangers military service rifle:

Rare bird in the US but the next new one in .308 I can find, I’m taking the plunge. This is the last known currently issued iron sighted bolt action service rifle used by any modern Western military and they make a phenomenal general purpose survival/hunting/defense rifle.

I like that a lot.

For what it's worth, our M24 has iron sights. At least when issued as the M24 SWS. True-enough that they're in the case - just in case;) but the option exists. It used to be fun to separate the wheat from the chaff and remove the scope and iron-up for fun.

And of course - the M21 still has irons.

Todd.

I would also like to get my hands on one of these in .308. Every time someone mentions bolt action rifles I think of one of these. And I don’t even like bolt guns, but I want one of these.

I am looking forward to picking up my S&W model 27 Classic this coming Sunday.

I am also looking forward to finally shooting my M1 Garand again. I gave it to my daughter back in 2004. She gave it back to me on Father’s Day this past year. I haven’t been Abe to go shoot it but I am looking forward to it soon.

I am also looking forward to being able to do some Cowboy Action Shooting once my left arm / wrist heal from my injury.

And I keep buying lottery tickets. I haven’t lost hope yet.

I really dig the cool aesthetic that they have that (for me) NONE of the Ranch/Guide/Scout/Whatever rifles have.

That front sight is a treat these days.

Todd.

Always build bigger shops than needed. Especially if it's your forever home.
18x21 is about the biggest I can do. That’s wedging it in between the septic field lines, the property line, the right of way and the steep drop off since my property is essentially a 1/2 acre of flat ground with a canyon that’s totally unusable. 18x21 technically will not quite fit with local ordinances about building near property lines, but it’s within a couple inches. I am going to put a loft in it to store stuff and still have room to work.

@WestKentucky

Man, I bet having a canyon drop off on your property is sweet. I'd set up a pretty sweet range (if permitted in your area) or an air pistol range if powder burners are unacceptable.

I'm looking forward to buying some land I can build a range on. Then I can work on wearing out a few 38 revolvers I've recently acquired. I am also looking forward to loading for a few new to me cartridges, and building my first custom milsurp sporter. Owned a few, but never built one all the way yet. It'll cost some money but I really don't care...

getting my Benjamin Bulldog .357 big bore air rifle turned into a Bulldozer by Veradiumair. Looking at adding another 642 as a backup/spare for CCW.

I've moved this from Handguns General Discussion to General Gun Discussions, since this thread isn't handgun specific. I've also removed several off topic posts. Please keep all posts firearms related.

Sighting in my SR-22 and becoming a better shot with my pistols. I hope all you guys on here who have taught me so much have a super 2021, too.

Looking forward to nice weather. And working on my marksmanship. And hunting this year. I missed out last season. Be cause of my quadricep detaching. Im on the mend ready to rock! The covid crap i did not let it get me down.

I've been asked by a few friends to teach them the basics of reloading: tools, safety, where to acquire components when available, etc. I can get them started at modest cost so they can get their feet wet without big bucks. And a couple have approached me about using BP guns, especially cap and ball revolvers. I enjoy the teaching and it's an opportunity to get folks more involved in the hobby.

I think the impetus is a combination of absence makes the heart grow fonder (they can't find materials at the moment) and wanting to be able to avoid these shortages in the future by being able to reload and expand their shooting possibilities.

Jeff

2020 and 2021 have been pretty negative. Let's hear some positives!

I bought a new safe I'm anxiously waiting to take delivery on, and a custom 1911 build is nearly completed. I'm absolutely tickled pink with this. View attachment 985015
My old explorer died. My wife twisted my arm into buying an 89 YJ as a hunting rig.
I'm in the process of modding it and figuring out gun storage for it.
I think I'm going to build a safe/sub box in place of the console.
