Just curious what new bolt action centerfire or rimfire rifle project you all are working on? Or considering. Sometimes I get to fishing for ideas. It might be time to get rid of an AR (too many) and do another bolt gun.
I have been thinking about sprucing up my Shilen/Savage 6mm. New stock/ optics/ trigger.

I've got a Rem M7 barreled action sitting at Pac Nor for rebarreling with a one of their stainless super-match barrel which will be a .260 Rem; 20" 1:8 twist, 3 groove, #3 Lija profile, fluted. The bolt will be spiral fluted and barreled action will be Cerekoted in Gen 2 Graphite Black. I've got a Manners stock on order and am just waiting on a Leupold V3HD 2.5-8x36 to come back in stock.

Waiting on parts for the swap barrel American to show up and then that one will be close to done.

Re-Barrel and Re-chamber My buddies REM 783 to 22-250..... Or maybe something else still been going over options with him but he hasn't made up his mind.

Just refinished a single shot Stevens rifle for a friend of mine, But most of my other projects are all handgun related right now

just got a yugo 48 wood plus stock from brownells. was really sweating out the trigger guard inletting. i am happy to report it fits good on the sides. just have to go a little deeper.
...then the barrel channel is next.

Just bought a Savage 10 tactical short action on Gunbroker complete with accutrigger, going to build a custom 338 Federal tactical/hunting rifle. Savage used to sell the 110 Scout in that caliber but it must have been short lived, and I haven't found any other current 338 Federal rifles which appeal to me. It doesn't seem to be a very popular cartridge, but the ballistics look phenomenal. At least inside 300 yards. Just need to decide on a stock and barrel manufacturer, but leaning towards a Shilen custom.

Just finished getting the low scope safety sorted out on my Husqvarna Mauser 98 sporter after the Timney/Buehler came loose.

I got the repro ZF-41 scope on my Yugo M98/48 zeroed at my indoor range using a .32 H&R chamber converter -- group size was so-so, but good enough to serve for this purpose.

The shooting process turned out to be pretty good physical exercise, since I had to stand up to place the converter under the Mauser extractor for every shot.

I'm waiting to pick up a new S&W M&P 15-22 and an ex-Israeli LE No.4 Mk. II next week that I just bought using stimulus money.

Still waiting on last years projects to get done at gun smith:( A 22-250AI off a blueprinted 700 and a Shilen select match stainless barrel and a 280AI off a 1903 action that was a gift.

I am pondering a lefty Bighorn action with a barrel nut Douglas barrel in 450 Bushmaster. AICS 308 mag well bottom metal with a yet to be determined stock.

Also pondering sending my Remington 7615 in to get a 450 BM conversion done so AR mags can be used.

On that note, I am also pondering buying a 350 Legend Ruger American Ranch that uses AR mags and swapping the stock to my 450 BM Ruger American Ranch to use AR mags.

Nothing too wild I guess and kind of niche to my interests and hunting areas.

holy cow!

I worked on an old Marlin Model 60 Glenfield and added the last shot hold open. I didn't want to grind the side plate, as the older models had a thicker plate. I found out there were two sizes of the bolt release lever and found some that fit the sideplate without grinding. The feedthroat was already the right shape so no modifications needed for that. Just did a little notch on the breech bolt and a small hole needed in the stock. It came out great. Now it has a last shot hold open.

Original 52 Winchester. Got it six months ago and have only had it out once. Wearing a temp cobbled up mount and a 6-24X until I find an original target scope I can afford. It has potential. I'd had one like it about '78 but foolishly let it go to a collector.

Brand new, two weeks old, not fired. I’ll shoot in April when it quits snowing.

Top Savage Axis II XP w/ Bushnell 3-9 and ER Shaw 358 Winchester 24 inch SS barrel.

Bottom TC Venture II in 223 Remington with Athlon Midas HMR 2.5-15 illuminated reticle. Gun$ = Scope$ LOL :)

Russian CM-2. I need to return it to an adult stock configuration. 12i lop is just too short and the original spacer is missing along with the bolts needed to use it.
I have the rear sight but prefer a scope as the blocks were already installed. IMG_9640.jpg

Well, at least the Leupold VX3HD 2.5-8x36 CDS came back into stock, so it's on order.

Now it's just a question of 5-6 months till the rest of it comes together... Hopefully in time for load development and our early OCT antlerless season.

In the last week or so, I bedded the action of my old Winchester 74. I was going to bed my Remington 540 XR but ran into a big problem Old grease and oil glued the trigger solid. It took a couple days to get it apart, cleaned and put back together. Well maybe a couple more if you count waiting for a lost part. I also found scope bases for it so I am remounting the scope. Still haven't decided to bed it. I might shim it with gasket material instead.
Today I bought a Leupold V3i scope on sale for $325 with discount. I am planning a build to put it on. I would like to work on my CZ's but projects are piling up.

I have an old Mossberg 320K with a broken front sight. I bought a replacement front sight for it over the winter. I understand that older models with drift adjustable front sights were normally hammered out with a punch....but I also know that is how many a front sight ended up broken....Is there a better way with less "gun violence" ?

Yesterday I "finally" added a 2nd scope to my Rem M7 Mannlicher in .350 Rem. I bought the rifle from the custom shop while stationed at Ft. Lewis as I perceived it to be the "perfect timber elk rifle while climbing over deadfalls just south of St. Helens". I mounted a Swarovski 1.25-4X in Warne QD mounts as to be able to switch to irons. Hunted with it while stationed there and killed a couple elk and blacktails with it. PCS'd back to KS and it's sat in the back of my gunsafe since until I shot a couple OK hogs in FEB. I'm planning an elk hunt for next year and wanted to use the M7 as a back up, or primary depending on the conditions.

I decided it really is a nice little carbine, but the 1.25-4x with it's thick reticle was superb for timber/brush, it's a little too restrictive here in wide open KS. The 2MOA dot and thick cross hairs cover a lot of animal at distance. I wanted a little more magnification to make use of the ".35Whelen like" ballistics, so I ordered a set of 1" rings to mount a spare 2.5-8x36 3i Leupold I had. I have the same scope on a couple other M7s and it's just about the perfect size for that rifle. I then learned the hard way that Warne had changed their rings and mounts to a wider base version sometime in the late 90s when the 1" rings arrived.

So basically an upgrade was in order. I dropped my gun off at a local smith to have the 4th hole drilled and tapped. Previously mine was the 3 hole version that required a one piece mount that made getting the short fat .350 rem rounds in the mag a little challenging. I also ordered another set of 30mm rings to match the new bases.

Picked up the rifle yesterday and put it all together. Used my old Leupold "Zero Point" boresighter and recorded zero to rough zero both scopes for my 225 grain load. Hopefully I'll get to verify this weekend. If nothing else it's now a more versatile rig that will get out of the safe more.

Nothing at all in the works as far as rifles go right now for me. I have spent the cold months concentrating on gadgets and pistols and am finishing the last pistol right now--sort of. I haven't touched it it in well over a week. It's warming up nicely, the wind should settle down quite a bit in a few weeks, and I'm sure an idea on a rifle will pop into my head that I just have to pursue.
