Colt Trooper experiences

Ok. I went through all the checks on Dferiswheel's thread again and the Trooper passed everything so I decided to take it to the range.
I started with some .38 special and worked my way up to some mid range .357 magnum loads. No issues whatsoever. I shot in both double and single action at 5, 7, 10, and finally 15 yards. I was pleasantly surprised how well I shot. Did all the checks again after and everything is good.
I'll keep a close eye on it but I'm happy for now.

One of my best friends (a Captain in the Ashland County Ohio Sheriff's Department) died in 2003, and he willed me his Colt Trooper Mark III revolver, a "1 of 200", Buckeye State Sheriff's Association 50th Anniversary Commemorative model, replete with a walnut presentation case. I have read over the years that this Colt revolver iteration (and maybe others of the same ilk) should never be dry-fired sans snap caps. I don't know how credible this admonition is but it's a moot point for me because, of all the many firearms I own, the Trooper and one other gun I have are the only ones I never plan on shooting.
