Braced Pistols??

I have a Law Tactical folder on one of my guns. It works as advertised, "but", unless youre a lefty, if you value your teeth, be careful.

The should have made it a right folder for us right handed shooters. That hinge will bob you right in the mouth if you shoulder the gun quickly and arent careful. It does add a little length and 1.5" does sound about right without checking.

The folder sounds like a good idea, but in reality, I didn't find it to be. Its shorter when folded, but also more than double the thickness. So its kind of a trade off.

Kind of pricey too.

Of course it's arbitrary, the whole "arm brace" determination was arbitrary. Determination letters are merely ATF's opinion the day they issued letter.

It's all good until ATF decides your configuration is not a pistol with an arm brace, but a pistol with a crappy shoulder stock.......and then you get to spend your savings on attorney fees.

And of course, that can happen at any moment or whim with them. But right now, that's literally an army they would have to deal with, and I think people are starting to finally get a little grumpy about all this silly BS.

It's a folder but I don't think it's a LAW. Seems like I got it from wherever I got the brace. It has the SB Tactical version now with the MI QD sling socket.

I, too, purchased several braced pistols when I learned that option might not last forever. However, at the time I really wasn't sold on the idea as it offering any additional advantage.

A PSA AK-V, Micro Roni (G22 gen4), Black Aces Pro Series Mini 10, Bear Creek Arsenal 10.5" 5.56 AR and a PSA Braced 7" .300 BLK later, my mind was changed. Even with the G22 in the Micro Roni, target acquisition and hits on target was far better, for me anyway, than with my non-braced G22.

I'm still not drooling over them, but I do recognize the benefits.

The original intent of Congress in banning sawed-off rifles and sawed-off shotguns 1934 NFA was to prevent evasion of the uniform pistol acts on concealable weapons. (Yeah, I know, Intent of Congress is lost in the verbiage of SBR, SBS & AOW law but that intent was the selling point.)

Gangsters cut off long guns to make concealable weapons to evade more restrictive laws on handguns. Therefore sawed-offs were placed under Federal restriction.

A pistol with brace sold as a concealable weapon is not an attempt to evade pistol laws. If concealability is a property sought by criminals, making a pistol less concealable with a brace would lessen their value for criminal use. (Look at the civilian legal handguns in Britain with 12" barrels and attached counterweights.)
