Has anybody done one of these? Could you recommend a place?

You know, where you pay as they lodge you, feed you, and you go hunting and they process the hogs for you.

I've always been interested in doing one, but I'm never sure where to go, or how much it's going to cost.

My son and I did one this summer, central Texas. Outfit was called Dos Plumas and they did a nice job. All you asked for excepting feeding you, but they did have a kitchen where you could feed yourselves.

(111) Helicopter Feral Hog Hunting in Texas - YouTube This is a Random video.

For those who want to be "death from above" , instead of on the ground>> I have no idea about which companies allow you to pre-brief shooting techniques and then let you Pay to Kill hogs. About six-seven years ago I read about a few of them in south Texas, often near the Brazos River.

The small Robinson helicopters (use the small recip. engines) have Far Less operating expense than a larger, turbine-powered Jet Ranger etc.

My coworker went to an area. South of Austin. He loved it and they killed a truckload over one weekend. They had cabins and all that.

I'm 63 and my brother is 66, i live in Washington State, moved out here 21 years ago.
He lives back in Upstate New York half way between New York City and Buffalo twenty miles north of the Pennsylvania border.
I go back deer hunting for a month every year and stay at his place.
We were out at a grocery store or a walmart a couple of years ago.an older gentleman was ahead of us innthe parking lot and went to pull in to a parking spot. He backed up two times to make it in to the parking spot.
My brother made a comment,
"Come on you old SOB, get pulled in there"
I told my brother
"What the hell do you tjing we are to people in thier early fifties & younger.

He wants to do a guided bear hunt up in the state of Maine, and a pig hunt down south. So it has to happen here shortly or it will never happen.
Our oldest brother died a couple of years ago and never did anything on his bucket list.
Our sister died last month, she never dis anything on her bucket list.
We are the next in line to cash in our chips, so if we are going to do this part of the bucket list it has to be here shortly.

I am watching this thread myself. Might be getting older, but I can still do this. Have plenty of Airline Miles, Hotel Points, and even rental car days. Got me interested while driving this last month in Germany and seeing all the hunting stands in the fields next to the autobahn.

I will say this...one place that you want to avoid is Independence Ranch. A few people have a decent experience there, but their pricing seems to be bizarre and the owner/manager is a wacko. Aside from the bizarre and costly fee structure, check out he well prepared he is to deal with this 'severely injured' hunter.

My experience has been that most of the ranches that offer guided non-native hunts or whitetail hunts will also offer hogs (since hogs are so prevalent). If you find a place that's well regarded for deer hunts, they'll probably do just as well on hog.

Texas is a big place - whereabouts are you looking to hunt?

I would NOT recommend Dos Plumas, one man operation and he was kind of rude. They do not come get your downed hog right away, but at dark when it may have been dead for hours. You need to clean a hog within a half hour or it won't be good eating. Mine had an off taste because of this, and my local processor in NM said he had seen the same thing from hogs from Dos Plumas.
