Update: Sig P365 XL disappointed

The heavier 124gn will work the slide harder than the 115gn will. Sigs are a bit tight our of the box. Yes, sig has has some issues, just like everybody else. Run the recommended ammo during the break in and eliminate that possibility.

Personally, I clean a new gun before I shoot it and every 50 rounds for the first 300 rounds. After that, I rarely have any issues, even with the notorious R51. The very few issues I had were much easier to figure out since I didn't have to chase down intermittent problems with light loads.

May not work for everyone, opinions differ. I'm not claiming expert status. It just works for me for many years.

if you shoot a sig, you better get used to disappointment.

I bought my first Sig, a P365, a month ago after watching all of the drama unfold with the early models, and the issue with the P320 drop-firing.

It has been flawless so far and more than I hoped for in a carry pistol. It is very accurate, has a great trigger, great ergonomics, soft-shooting, and holds 12 rounds in a tiny size I never thought would be possible.

No disappointment here.

But yeah, it seems with Sig lately that buying anything new that's been out less than a year or two is a gamble.

Wow, what a useful, informative post! That's why this forum thrives, chock full o' productive information such as that statement. [Note that guys who make statements such as that never volunteer (in the same thread) what their pistol of choice is, lest someone publicly disparage their choice with such insight and wisdom.] Seriously though, when I see stuff like that on the forum I simply shake my head and think, "What a ------- [insert word for male donkey here]."

My brand new sig 365xl shoots great as well. It will fire as fast i can pull the trigger using several types of ammo.i hope the op gets it figured out because it is a nice handgun .I cant speak for any other models because this is my first sig ,and its good one

Another one for the “shoot 124 gr” mantra. I don’t shoot 115 any more. Yes, it can be found for less $$, but only about $1/50 in my neck of the woods.

Ok I didn’t list my preference in gun because I didn’t want to be a fan boy. I have quite a few sigs but my pistol of choice is a heritage rough rider.

The op asked, and my opinion is as valid as anyone else’s.

I don't recall asking a single question in ANY of my posts in this thread LOL. I'M THE OP TOO

BTW I'm not disappointed in the Sig more so frustrated, If I can't get reliable function from it then I'm sure Sig will take care of it. For right now I just need to keep shooting it.

So your pistol worked fine with pmc 115gr right out of the box? Hmm but but but 115gr doesn't have the "oomph" to run the slide.

The WWB was a box I had left from years ago and my Taurus PT709. I don't agree that the issue is 115gr vs 124gr ammo. I do however agree that the gun may be "tight" which is a good thing but may cause issues early on. After the second through cleaning and lube it worked much better with "weak" 115gr ammo I shot the 124 AE ammo last so it would have been shot when the gun had been broke in more...this is all just my thoughts sitting here on break at work. So if it comes off rude I really do apologize.

Bottom line is that after another 150 rounds or so of various brass cased ammo if I still experience failures then back to Sig it will go.
looked like a question to me?

Didn’t ask any questions huh? Lol
The post I responded to, was the post that didn’t have a question from you that actually did have a question from you.
What other post do you think I responded to?
I guess you got me I did ask a question. I asked about a posters gun working with pmc 115gr ammo. And your post and replies to other posts answered that question how?

Try a box of S&B 115 grain and see if that makes a difference. Some of the European ammo is a bit hotter and the Sig might use springs optimized for hot self defense ammo. That was my experience breaking in a Beretta Pico (first version with dual recoil springs). Once broken in then it would cycle everything.

I have a standard P365. It eats everything. I had ONE failure in the first mag and nothing since. Has probably 500-600 rounds through it. The first mag was with steel cased ammo which was all I had in my truck when I stopped by the range after buying the gun. Since I was thinking of it being a carry gun for my girlfriend, the 2nd time out I ran it through a torture test with steel case, aluminum case as well as brass. I mixed up the rounds as well as mixed up the bullet weights. Since the one failure, it has run perfect and everyone I know that owns one says the same about their gun. I'd pack it up and send it back to Sig and let them fix it. I know a lot of semis need some break in, but it really sounds like yours has a problem. Probably a burr of something internally that needs a little smoothing up.

Improvement is good.
Talked to a guy yesterday who had one. He said his didn’t run 100% until he had 400-500 rounds through it.

Been perfect ever since according to him. His wife took it away.
If a EDC pistol NEEDS 500 rounds to be reliable at the pricepoint of this pistol and ammo these days it is NOT cool. I.E. The pistol is significantly more expensive than anticipated.

That said, I just bought the XL with a Romeo yesterday. Hope mine is a bit more reliable than that...

200 rounds of 147gr reloads through my new P365XL and no problems. These reloads are running about 135pf for reference. I've tried both 12 and 15 round mags filled, 12+1 and 15+1, to make sure there isn't a problem with a tight mag spring. So far so good.

Will continue to feed it 100 a week. May put some AE and Winchester Service grade 115gr just for a test, but for practice and break in I mostly stick with 147gr reloads. Going for the 1,000 round mark by July.

I have a year old P365XL that has shot everything I've fed it so far (around 400 rounds) and has been flawless. If yours is giving you problems a trip back to the mothership would be in order.
