I am looking for feedback and/or advice for the folding stock kits. I will be using it on a 16 inch barrel. If you have one do you like it? Are there ATF rules to be concerned with for these?

LAWS makes an adaptor that is well regarded. No ATF rules to worry about unless you're using a rifle buttstock on a pistol.

I've seen $25 cheap china copies of more expensive versions on ebay-like sites. youtube videos seem to indicate they work, but require some fitting. I'd never trust one with my life, but I've considered trying one some time just for giggles.

This is the only one worth buying. not cheap but great value.

remember you only get one shot with it folded.

I have been seeing a lot of AR folding adapters on FB lately. I go to click the buy page and some of them go for around $50-90. Not sure I would want to go that low for a part that would see lots of stress. LAW is the original folder, but you will easily pay $300 and up for one. The middle ground is one I have had my eye on, made by Sylvan for 150. There are some stress test videos of this one and it does well. This would likely be the lowest in cost I would trust.

I love those folder adaptors like SB tactical makes, just not anything that actually requires a buffer spring.

I really want one of the Shield Arms lowers with the folder built in. It really looks like the slickest way to go about it. It's not cheap for a lower, but compared to buying a lower and then a folder mechanism, it's in line with other's prices.

Sylvan Arms adapter can be had for $150, and works just as the LAW folder does that is nearly twice as much. I do have experience with the Sylvan Arms and LAW folder and would choose the cost savings of the Sylvan Arms in the future as it is well built. I do not have any experience with the integrated AR side folders such as the bottom link below.

I built an AR with the LAW folder... it went together quite well. It was for a friend, he needed something he could put in a duffle bag for work, and it worked well enough.

I found it a bit cumbersome. Yes, it is built very well... it doesn't wobble, or unlatch by itself. What I found was, because I shoot nose to the charging handle, is I hit my mouth/teeth on the folding assembly... it's right there. A different choice of stock might alleviate some of that (a Magpul UBR stock, for example) but he was happy with it.

Be careful what you buy. An internet friend on another forum bought a knock-off adapter, and there were thread issues with the buffer tube and such. If you buy one, buy a legit one... spend the money.

I put one on my 350legend build with a 18 inch barrel and realized that with the collapsible stock it doesn’t save that much in length but much wider. I like it better without.
I’m going to be building a AR pistol with a 10.5 inch barrel to put it on.seems like a better platform.
