Taurus G3c

I have a G2C and the G3C is just a slightly updated version. I have been satisfied with mine and it has been reliable, but the sights aren't very good. There are sight upgrades available though.

I have shot a G3 and if the G3C has the same trigger, it is a big improvement over the G2C trigger. It still has a long pull but is much smoother and lacking the catch point that the G2C has.

For a compact budget pistol, I think the G3C is a good option.

I have a G2 and i like it very much. I also have 140 the 40mm. I'll share a story on them. I also had 2 SW SDVE'S. One in 40sw and a 9mm. I traded them even up for my 2nd 1911. An RIA 45 tac series. I couldn't shoot the SW'S accurately. The Taurus ones i shoot well.

Hickock45 has a video on the G3...I have a G2, and it's ok, but I am considering finding a new owner for the G2 and acquire a G3....

In the past year have purchased 4 G2C, 1 G3C, 1 G3. All are great values from $249 to $309, most with 3 mags.

A while back I picked up a G2C with a very long pull of trigger that snagged on the way back to fire---$80 + UPS to ship back---Taurus would send me a prepaid shipper for $50. I ground down part of the trigger safety & it stopped snagging----not a bad gun for under $200 if you like to repair things that are new.
I carry a Sig--it has never needed any repairs
One of my sons has an earlier model----never needed repairs.

The Taurus site says that the G3c pistols have a tenifer finish.

That is a huge step up from whatever finish my Taurus Millennium G2 PT111 has on it.

Guess it depends on your budget....of which CC might save your life...so think of it that way.

If you absolutely cannot afford anything more expensive it should do a decent job. Taurus does have a higher rate of defects and customer service issues than other more expensive brands. Does this mean you will have issues? Not necessarily. Take it to the range and run your SD ammo through it to be sure just like anyone's gun.

However, if you can afford something higher dollar there are several options that have a better reputation.

For me the Sig P938 was my favorite as I enjoy condition 1 carry. I still like it better than the P365 due to the better/larger safety over the 365. YMMV.

I had a very good G2C that gave me no problems.

I like my Glock 26 just a little bit better, so kept the Glock and traded the Taurus, but they were extremely similar.

I liked the Glock trigger just a little bit better.

If you consider customer service, repair services, and long term reliability, I think Ruger wins hands down. My first and last Taurus was a G2C. It broke on its second range day. The striker broke. I sent it to Taurus for a warranty repair. They fixed it, but it took 7 weeks to get it back. I sold it.

I had a PT-111 G2. It had the blued finish & I disliked the trigger. I wound up selling it. The market has drastically changed since then but at the time nicer guns were available for a relatively small increase in price.

I picked up a G3C a few month back. I have fired about 400 rounds through it. No issues so far. I will say that for my style of shooting the double strike trigger takes some getting use to. But as others have said for the money its good to go. If it was going to be my only pistol i would have no issue with that at this time. I am going to try adding Glock night sights to it in the next few months. My aim is to shoot it every month this year.

The little Taurus G series guns have a good reputation. I got a G3c in a raffle a while back and I never had a problem. I swapped it for the new optics ready version for fun, haven't had it out yet. In the world of bargain guns, it is a great value. The trigger takes a little getting used to, but they are nice shooters. I've been rather impressed with Taurus lately. I bought two TX22s, a 942, and the little 3c and they all have worked perfectly.

I have a G3 and it’s been a super good gun! I cc a G43 so no need for me to get the G3C. I opted for the bigger version to get 4 in barrel and 15-17 mag capacity. From my experience with the G3 and all the positive reviews I’m hearing I’d feel comfortable carrying it.

My only personal concern might be the finish and rust proofness of the pistol. While the be finish is better how does it hold up with holster wear?

Taurus does have a higher rate of defects and customer service issues than other more expensive brands.

Do you have any evidence to support that statement? I am not being argumentative or trying to defend Taurus. Instead, I am curious if you have a source with metrics such as number of guns manufactured, number of guns returned for issues, percent of new guns with defects requiring returns, etc. If so, I think it would be interesting to view and compare manufacturers.

I know Taurus gets a bad reputation by folks online. I’m confident that most claims are warranted and not people simply bad-mouthing without cause, but I also wonder if so many people buy Taurus guns that while the number of alleged defective guns is high, perhaps the percentage in terms of total guns manufactured is on par with other manufacturers?

I agree that things of a higher quality generally cost more, but it also makes me wonder if gun prices induce a psychological aspect on firearms enthusiasts. For instance, if Taurus was to make guns which were branded for some other manufacturer who sold them for 2-3x the price of Taurus how many people would automatically assume that the guns are excellent simply because they command a higher premium.

I have a new Taurus® G3C 9mm pistol I bought a month ago. I have about 400 rounds of 115gr and 124gr FMJ and JHP through the gun with no malfunctions of any kind. Going to shoot some 147gr this coming weekend.

Thus far I have no complaints and am very satisfied with the gun.

I have the G3C and have had excellent service from it. Only 300 rounds of Silver Bear rounds through it.
