Well, very nice collection there, to be sure!

If I had to raise money tomorrow, I’d keep the VBOB and the ACW. Not that I don’t love the others.....those two just rise to the top in my hands.

A young man from our church works for Les Baer, so I would start there if it were me.

I also like some of the semi custom guns from Wilson.

Do you want a custom 1911 or a semi-custom 1911? There is a difference. A true custom 1911 is will be made to your spec by a smith of your choice. For example this gun which was done by Don Williams.



Vs this gun which was build by Nighthawk which was bought off the shelf. There was nothing custom about it. The configuration and build was determined before I bought it.



Both are excellent guns. One is a bepoke custom the other is not. If money and time are not an issue I would call Mr. Ted Yost.

I have an EGW (though I think George is not in that business anymore). I have had a ton of work done by Clark.

Some years ago I had the chance to get a custom 1911 built for me. I went to www.derrprecision.com and spoke to the owner who spent the time to learn exactly what I wanted. Caspian frame/slide, Wilson Combat internals, Kart barrel and everything tweaked to my specs. It took close to a year to get it done, but it was worth the wait and every penny I spent. If time is short then I’d go with a semi custom. If you have the time to wait then go with a full custom. You will not be disappointed.

Wow. That is a nice-looking 1911.

This is that Combat Elite that Wilson rebuilt to my requirements. The Turnbull shop did the slide re-blue. Note: NO ambidextrous safety on other side!
