Why didn't I think of that? Now that the weather is beginning to turn a little warmer here in the frozen north, I was pondering a different approach to outdoor air rifle targets for use in the back yard. Thanks for the idea.

You might be a little young but I would tell them they were for my grandkids, well, great grandkids actually. I didn’t know you could get such a thing at the dollar store but it’s an excellent idea that I will have to remember. The girls should get kick out of shooting cartoon characters with their BB guns.

Something else interesting to plinkers are the big bags of chalky mints sold in dollar stores. Essentially inedible, these pink, white, or green discs are about 3/4" diameter and 1/4" thick, and explode satisfyingly on impact even with relatively low powered airguns while providing challenging targets.

I’ve thought about sidewalk chalk too. It’s probably more edible than those mints though.

When I was a kid I used aspirin glued to a box. Shot at it with a Beeman R1. This was in Cleveland proper. I even shot a squirrel off a telephone pole. This was in the back yard on a bet with the neighbor. Skinned it and ate it. Stickers from dollar tree are a great cheap bullseye
