Very pleasant surprise from Chilean Mauser

I finally put a scout scope on a Mauser I've had for decades and never shot. 29 inch barrel. Put 150 grain ELDX in front of 43 grains of 760....2560 fps Got a one inch 3 shot group at 100 yards after setting scope. Never expected that. Tickled. First load tried. Likely to be the last.
 
I am assuming that it is caliber 7x57 which is what my Chilean Model 1912 and Brazilian 1908 are chambered for. Wonderful rifles! What kind of mount did you use?
 
Isn't there a Non-Drill, Non-tap mount called a B-Square? I have No idea whether the general type would go onto a Chilean.

A friend found a beautifully restored - Czech Mauser - , onto which he managed to put the B Square mount.
With the reddish stain, professional rebluing and scout scope, it is one Very appealing Mauser.
 
I'm not sure about that. The mount I got works but I needed lower profile rings. It's around 2 inches high at 100 yards turned as low as it will go. I honestly was expecting 4 moa so you can imagine my delight
 
I have one of those 1895 Chilean Mausers, 7x57, "Lowe Berlin". It has been sporterized, barrel down to 23", new walnut stock. It is a shooter. It now resides at my friends ranch in Idaho.
Those are wonderful rifles.
 
Well years ago I bubba's the stock up. Gonna leave the barrel long for the speed benefit. It weighs a ton with the scope but that makes basically have no kick. I can almost see the the hit through the scope at 2x. Fun to shoot but trying to not blow primers and powder. I just really didn't expect that result
 
Mod. 95 Chilean Mausers were always one of my faves. Had a nice one years ago and still regret selling it. That S & K scout scope mount should serve you well. I have two of them and never any problems. Had one on a K98 Mauser for almost 12 years. Took it off and you can't tell that rifle ever had a scope on it. Have another one currently on a Mod. 91/30 Mosin - Nagant with the same scope that had been on the K98. Been on there since last summer and it's sweet. 7x57 is also a nice handloaders round. I've recently gotten back into 7x57 reloading for a 1908 Brazilian Mauser. Most of my older loads had 139 gr. Hornady S.P.'s but lately I've had good luck with Speer 160 gr. bullets with both IMR-4350 & IMR-4831 powder.
 
Many, MANY years ago I'd shoot my old mausers in local Hi-Power matches. These were limited to only 100yds off hand with reduced targets. I had to use the 175 rn bullets for best accuracy as the throat was so long in my Chilean 95. I can recall stuffier shooters scoffing at my loads as they weren't Sierra Matchkings. They didn't understand the platform. I only got as high as fourth.

I've got to get some 145 and 160 hotcor when I see some in stock. I mostly use the 140 Sierra but there just to pricy anymore for a normal cup and core bullet. Always had good luck with imr 4350.
