How weird is this?
My LGS has a 6" Dan Wesson 22V that I'm going to look at today. Similar price as the OP's
The question I have is if it's not a Monson gun is it still a good gun?
I've got two Monson and If I liked it, I wouldn't hesitate even if it's not a Monson Mass. Not everyone agrees Monsons are any "better." The 22 DWs I've seen for sale seem to fetch a higher price than 15-2 357s.

Not gonna lie I’m slightly jealous of those who own these fine pistols. Never even seen one in person. Let alone can afford one.

Dan Wesson IHMSA .32 Mag 8” 2-barrel set for $2,200.00 on GB now..oh if only I had got any stimulus $$ :(.

OP, let us know if you pulled the trigger on the DW .

Stay safe.

Can't afford it now....have a Raptor that needs new shocks...

OP, message inbound....

Thank you enablers!!

I went back to the lgs for another look. The store owner said this gun was a consignment sale. The owner had loaned it to his brother, who left it in a camper shell where moisture got to it. So the damage is surface rust, made worse in spots by bubba’s attempts to remove the rust.

It is a Monson gun, serial number 14,081, which as best I can tell dates it around 1979. I bought it for $400 plus tax.

Pix show it as it came home from the lgs. Worst spots are behind the left side recoil shield. I will post more pix after cleaning and range testing.

Excellent deal!

You’ll be happy with it. Let us know how it shoots for you when you get a chance to take it out to the range. :)

Stay safe

Sold several back in my Dealer days, still have one 357, $400 is a good price, I would have done the same. Let us
see more about it when you get it kranked!

All I can say is Dan wessons are excellent revolvers but my experiences with their 357 models with the interchangeable barrels in the model 715 and the blue ones.
Both the old Monson Mass ones and the new CZ Dan Wesson's are outstanding but the trigger on my new model 715 CZ Dan Wesson is better than any trigger on any stock revolver I own and I've got some good ones.

To give you a little perspective on what you paid, I bought this one last year (at the beginning of the crazy) from my LGS and got it for $800 OTD (which I felt was the correct price for a Monson .22 in this condition).

From the markings on the box it was originally purchased from J&G Sales out of Prescott AZ in March of 1994.

I bought it in Arizona so it didn’t go too far.

It’s not new in box as it has been fired but it appears the original owner took great care of it didn’t shoot it too much.

For $400 you did great! If I got one that cheap I would maybe think about having it prettied up by having it NP3'd or similar.
Back in 2006, when I bought my nearly perfect 715, I got this, with 3 grips, the box, the sales receipt, one of those crappy, and broken plastic wrenches, and a bag of most of the internal parts for spares, for the whopping price of $269+20 ship+ 20 transfer. Still 15+ years later, my first and best gun auction deal ever: One tiny scratch on the shroud that kept it from being perfect:

I get jealous every time I read a post about someone buying a used DW. I have never encountered one in my area. Never.

I would have jumped on the one in the OP if I had found it and if I had been unsuccessful with haggling I would have gritted my teeth and paid the asking price. That's how much I would like to own a DW 22LR.

Hey Paul...that 2.5" 44 barrel is SWEET....never seen one in the flesh!! Looking to buy one though LOL....

Also really like the polish job on the 357...the "melted" look the gunsmith did blends really nice with the EWK barrel. Super good looking!!

My Monson 715, c.1982. Currently sporting the 4" tube, but have a 6" as well.

That 44 2.5 barrel is a EWK too, managed to get one of the last ones i have seen on their site over a year ago, its a beast but fun, that barrel is heavy too.
The 357 is completely custom nickel plated, and a spring kit, and tweaked by the best GS around,, which all in all made the DA pull so smooth its undescribable, the SA pull is so lite it will scare the uneducated amongst us...

I bought a Monson 357 with 2” barrel two or three years ago, frame was scratched up, missing some blueing, but the trigger is wonderful, and the accuracy is exceptional. I paid $500 for it, which was a bit much for the condition, but glad I did now.
