The governors of Texas, Alaska, Iowa, South Dakota, Iowa, and Wyoming all issued statements against Biden's gun agenda. This is in addition to the governor of Arizona signing the second amendment protection act that passed the Arizona legislature.

The statements address different aspects of Biden's announcement. You can read them at this link:

Here in Virginia our governor is very much against the 2nd Amendment. So most counties/cities went ahead and voted to make them 2nd Amendment sanctuaries. This is more symbolic than anything but it could set up a precedent. A lot of major cities have declared themselves sanctuary cities for immigration. If a court rules that immigration sanctuaries can stand then the 2nd Amendment locations have to be honored. If a court rules 2nd Amendment locations are illegal the immigration cities are also nullified. What this will do is hopefully make someone think before they try to go after either because it could have effects they don't tend to agree with.

Some states are and will be more free than others in the USA.

For as long as the people exiting the States they were complicit in messing up, change their voting habits. You know, the “one bad apple” concept but we are talking about hundreds of thousands.

Seems as though many just look at it as a nice place to change into what they just fled...

In a perfect world yes, similar things get similar treatment. In this world we get wishy washy mess that makes no sense. Consider the fact that one of the people who wanted to be our president, that got laughed at and ridiculed, and who gave up early in the fight is now only a misstep on Air Force Ones stairs from being in the very roles that she gave up on 2 years ago. Also, people put bacon on ice cream and donuts now so it’s really hard to say that this world makes any sense.

Yeah, I cannonly imagine how downhill VT will get from this point on. The average home around here used to spend over 100+days listed, now it's under 3 because people from NY,MA,CT are snapping up all the real estate like penny candy. Making the move here permenant. It's not just a resort haven now.

Abbott in TX knows he is on thin ice over his mask mandate. He’s just doubling down on sounding like a conservative because he knows he screwed the pooch. RINO. I have no trust in him to act on anything positive for 2A. We would have had constitutional carry long ago if we did anything but beat our chest and make speeches. The man does know what to say, he just doesn’t really believe it.

Constitutional carry was blocked the last time by that pos Bonner

All the long-time Vermonters should make a point of making friends with their new neighbors, and invite them to go to the range.

You have to get the legislature to write and pass the bill. He's not not going to sign it after going so public with this statement. Get your state gun support organization involved.

I'm wondering if this is more of a power play than anything else. Gun control legislation will not get 60 votes in the senate, and it will get filibustered. But make a big fuss, get the conservatives nervous about gun control, knowing they'll be voted out if it passes....I'm wondering if this is just a poker chip. Something to back down from to get this massive infrastructure bill rammed through.

The Democrats have to try for gun legislation. Their base wants it so bad and they have promised over and over (especially since about 2015 and on) to ban “assault weapons”. their base wants it because they are stupid and the elites of both parties want it because once they take guns they can just bend us over and let us have it.
I’ve always felt like there’s no way possible, but after seeing how many people wear a mask and stayed home I know we are doomed. I’m confident the Rona was a tester to see what they could do to us as well as an awesome tool they used to steal the election. They now know what parts of the country will submit and once the vaccine is done they will have a good idea where the strongest defectors live.
Your average republican will give them an inch any day of the week. They are in your front yard with the pitch forks now.

I wouldn't be so pessimistic; smart people are going to be careful about "which hill they want to die on," they're not going to want to fight unwinnable battles or tilt at every windmill. You can debate whether masks actually did anything but facing an epidemic of an unknown virus which was several times more deadly than a yearly flu and more transmissable it would seem a reasonable precaution to use masks. I did, and at the beginning I was uncertain of their efficacy, now I really doubt they did much more than make me dislike the odor of my laundry detergent.

As to the virus being a "tester," no it was not. That suggests conspiracy or even that it was manufactured. It wasn't. But that doesn't mean that many politicians didn't use our fear to indulge their more megalomaniacal impulses.

In choosing battles we need to be careful. Fight smart. Don't fight unwinnable ones. Don't fight every battle. Read a bit of history; in WW2 during our Pacific Campaign, we didn't "take" every Japanese held island, only some strategically important ones. And, it worked.
Let's be more like General MacArthur .... less like General Custer.;)

Be careful about that way of thinking and dont take things for granted

In TX, just before Thanksgiving, I was doing some home building research to possibly move to east TX for various reasons.

At the end of our meeting with one of the subcontractors, the nice lady said to us "I look foward to you Cali'ing up TX".

She was serious! She was born as raised in the same E.TX town. I'd guess her to be no older than 30 yrs.

I shook my head and said 'No, we wouldn't do that. CA WAS a great state growing up until about 20-30 yrs ago... 20 yrs ago it really turned. You don't want that here."

Point is, don't take things for granted and realize that some/many ppl leaving those states are MORE conservative than some/many in your supposedly conservative state.

This is great advice for everyone. From another CA refugee, no less.

Any law (or administrative rule) is only as strong as those who enforce it. If certain States refuse to enforce something like a ban on braces, then it would be up to BATFE to try to do it on their own. Even then, I bet there will be local law enforcement in some places within those States who would cooperate with the Feds anyway.

Unfortunately, the number of places that would actually end up banning enforcement is pretty small....

Find me someone who won a war with a slow and steady retreat. A liberal will stand in the rain to have the right to kill a baby. A Republican doesn’t even teach their kids how much we have given up.

It’s an excellent time to offer UBCs in exchange for the Hearing Protection Act. That’s a trade I could live with.

Well, FINALLY a lil' less complaining and a lil' more suggestions.Straight up front, I don't like the suggestion , but sooner then later some sausage IS GOING TO BE MADE. If it can be held off until after midterms that's wonderful!

Again I do not like the suggestion but goodness, some thinking out loud (my like to you Sir) MUST take place!

The problem with that is most republicans agree to stricter punishments for firearms charges.

If say possession of a ghost gun becomes like getting a speeding ticket. No problem. But then there’s this other little bill they want to pass that increases penalty’s for criminals caught with guns. Republicans and Democrats support it. So now bubba is a felon and the real criminals are still felons. The next generation of kids doesn’t even know their parents could build an AR from an 80% in the shop and thinks anyone who would do such a thing must be a fringe lunatic.

Yeah, lets get our two states to put their heads together and trade governors.;)

Sometimes you retreat, regroup, re-deploy in order to win. MacArthur did retreat ...once .... but was instrumental in winning the war. Custer never retreated. While it served him well in the Civil War, he and 5 companies of 7th Cavalry, U. S. Army, paid the ultimate price on June 25th, 1876.

Your point about liberals and republicans is certainly meritable ..... but who said either group would ever benefit us? We must be our own salvation in the end.
