New member

Let's see, I'm a new member, I like long guns mostly, my favorite is my sharps sporter rifle, which was bought by my grandfather's grandfather (who ran guns and money to the fenians in Ireland) in 1878, just 2 years after coming to this country. The thing will still shoot as good as any gun I've ever fired, and I hope to give it to my grandchildren's grandchildren. I do a little bit of gunsmithing just for fun, and am slowly acquiring more tools for this.
Hello my friend I’m new to this site and I can’t figure out how to post a thread

Hi!
This thread is a place for new THR members to introduce themselves.

Tell us a little about who you are and what kind of gun stuff you're interested in!
Hello can you please help me how to post a thread I can’t figure it out please. I’m a new member and just received my foid card I have a million questions

Welcome, Sandhillshunter! I am sorry your first experience with THR was disappointing, but hope you find a little more agreeable vibe this time around. Our moderators work hard to keep the noise down, but of course there will always be challenges. Your experience with shooting, archery and other topics that are within the THR wheelhouse will be greatly appreciated, and we hope we can be helpful too. Thanks for the introduction and we look forward to a fun-filled future.

Thanks Justin. My friends call me Jonnie I’m from Palos Hills, Illinois. I finally received my FOID card and I’m very excited! I purchased my first firearm a couple days ago. It is a Ruger precision 18” 22 cal. I have no idea about firearms and models brands etc. I been doing a lot of reading now and research on firearms . I am looking forward to go shooting at the range and have fun! What I really want rite now is to purchase the AR-15 it is my favorite rifle.

Bienvenue, Michel !

My French friends tel me that the openess we have in discussing our firearms can be equal parts vexing and intoxicating. And, as equally confusing, too.

Hello....Just joined today. I bought my first handgun in Dec 1993 and have not stopped since then. I currently am in MD but will be moving to TX when I retire next year.

Welcome to the crew, dohc97. Are we talking Ford, Toyota, Porsche....?Anyway, always a pleasure to meet and greet gun folk new and old. We are glad you joined up and I hope you find something here that you can use. It's a good bunch and we try to keep it positive and respectful. By the time you retire, we may be seeing ammo on the shelves again :D

@Downwindtracker2 welcome to the forum from communist NY. I don't have any milsurp rifles left, but don't a lot of time behind the butt plate of an m1 garand. Shoot mostly bolt action rifles at 300 meters, but have an AR in 556 shot at same distance.

Welcome from the Free State of Arizona. I shoot all bolt action rifles and one lever gun. It's all fun no matter what your choice.

My favorite Bolt military rifle has always been the 1903.I bought my first one from a military surplus store the day I took my induction physical in 1967. They had a couple cases of new ones priced at $25 ea. Still in the cosmoline . Mine was a Remington 1903 - A3. I owned a few more over the years. Welcome. I almost bought a place in BC back about 1970. Nice country .

Hi!

Been around for a week or two. Signed up for the reloading advice. I just got into reloading and enjoying it so far. I own about 15 firearms and I'm really in to 22lr.

Hello, Pahonix, and welcome! Delighted to make your acquaintance. Reloading is great therapy, especially in times of shortages and we are all looking forward to getting out and enjoying our sports again. I see you have a few posts under your belt, so please carry on and I hope your experience here is enjoyable.

You will find TX very different from MD.
For one, you can get an LTC. Just take the class and pay your $30.
For another, it's not considered a long drive until it gets past 2-3 hours.
Sadly, really good crabcakes are hard to come by, except very near the coast--but to make up for it: Soft-shell Po'boy sammiches. Also: barbecue brisket, TexMex, and chicken-fried steak are available everywhere.
Plenty of shooting, hunting, and fishing opportunities, too.
