New partial AR-15 build ... not sure where it's heading

I saw some on the shelf, it caught my attention because it was the only thing left. Not surprising due to its newness.

The same for me here. But as of yesterday, that, the Six Creed, 6.5 CM, and the lowly and ever present 7.62x39 were gone. Someone probably thought they could flip it online. (They’re probably right!;))

The ARC is based off the Grendel which is based off the .220 Russian so what say you?
I don’t see the difference.:)
If you want brass now, and don’t mind all the extra fun(work), and can accepted some lost cases of expensive variety, why not?
I don’t know if it’s fireforming or what exactly for that change. My interest piqued, I’ll do some reading. However, if the head and extractor groove is a good fit, the only parts I couldn’t change myself, the rest is just tube shaped brass.
Annealing is your friend!
Thank you for letting come along on your rifle project. It fun to know about the why-fors when things come together, rather than just the stats of the parts.

Looks like he was setting up for accuracy. Go with that route. I would go with 6.5 Creed or 6.5 Grendel.

Proof called me this morning to inform me that the 6mm ARC barrel is ready to be picked up so I got it this afternoon. They included a gas tube which was kind of them. Here are the barrel specs.

6mm ARC
20" carbon fiber wrapped
7.5 twist
4 groove
5/8-24 muzzle
.750 gas block
Rifle +1 gas port length

I have a few AR-15s and an AR-308 and have added another ... well, kind of. My local crack dealer aka ex-coworker/friend sold me one of his partial builds yesterday. He has some seriously nice firearms and typically has multiple builds going on. He wanted money to put towards a TP9 that's arriving soon and a few months ago mentioned that he might sell the partial build that I show below. I paid him $750 for everything shown which is a fair price.

FALKOR supposedly suggests using a heat gun to expand the upper receiver to allow the barrel extension to fit. Also, the fit between the upper and lower is excellent. Overall a very well made upper/lower that exudes quality.

FALKOR FD-15A upper/lower receiver
Geiessle Super Dynamic Trigger
Radian Raptor-SD charging handle
Radian take-down pins
HERA pistol grip
Magpul UBR Gen2 stock

So what direction would you take this build in? I'm thinking something other than 5.56x45mm NATO, .300 Blackout and .450 Bushmaster since I have those covered already.

I hope it shoots well for you I went with a Shilen barrel myself in 6mm arc and for now it’s 24 inches but will probably be cut back to 20 inches so I can mount my can on it! I am wanting to play with this cartridge a lot I think Hornady did it right but we shall see! Please post your results and lots of pics please!!!!

I really need to get a arc together, seen brownells had faxon barrels last week and sixfive Had a sweet deal on a barrel. Only if I can find a bcg when I need to.

I ordered a Rainer fail safe Nib bcg (5.56) and I’m going to swap the bolt out I wanted it to be easy to clean and yeah you need to get one!!!!

I threw another iron in the fire a few weeks ago. Started a new upper for my Armalite with a 20" Proof carbon barrel chambered for .223 Wylde. I plan on shooting it in the new AR Tactical division that the NRA started a couple of years ago. I'm thinking the Berger 80.5 Fullbores will be perfect for 600 yards

NRA Mid-Range (Prone) Tactical Rifle (AR)
Any semi-automatic rifle constructed on an “AR-Style Platform” chambered in any caliber from .233/5.56mm caliber up to and including .308 caliber/7.62mm similar in outward appearance to the “Service Rifle” described in 3.1(c), above, equipped with the standard 10-, 20-, or 30-round box magazine, having not less than 4 ½ pound trigger pull, with standard type “tactical” stock (Military or Police); barrel length not to exceed 20 inches; total weight of the rifle including one empty magazine, bipod and/or sling, if any, and sighting system (scope) may not exceed 14 pounds.

I've been shooting my ARC some, Grendel mags have worked great thus far. I've been using Leverevolution with 105s, 85s and a quick spread with 100s. Velocities have been good, I think I saw some temp sensitivity crop up, but TBD, I have some 95gr SSTs to try next, which should be interesting. I think you'll like the ARC, it's really a neat little cartridge to play with.

That's real similar to how is like to build mine, used to get the colt round tube handguards for under $50, don't know about now tho.

think I want a threaded barrel to maybe mess with a barrel tuner, and use that vg6 gamma break I bave.

I plan to get her cut back to 20 inches and threaded I’ll put my Ultra 7 on there and see what I can do!

I may order a barrel tomorrow, I don't want to say were yet cuz with my luck everybody will buy one and I won't get one lol.
But it's a 20" 416ss beadblasted medium contour. .750 rifle length. Threaded muzzle, 5r 1-7" button . Made by green mountain.
they have a small blem were they had over spray when sand blasting on the extension, but that won't hurt a thing.

There $139.00
Now I just need to find a bolt some brass and dies.

did you get the barrel?

Did you ever look into the 7mm Valkyrie? I bought the barrel, bolt and dies, then had an upper put together.

What an amazing round, don't know why it's not more popular. Every group that I shot with it was sub MOA. And this was out of an AR!

Unfortunately I sold the upper, just didn't have time to shoot it as much as I wanted to. That and the round has to be made from a parent case. Which required more of my time that I didn't have.

Maybe in the future I'll look at doing another upper or bolt gun chambered for it.
