Sig P365 vs P365XL?

Does SIG SAUER make a P365XL chambered in .380ACP ?

Welp. Here’s what I know based on my experience with a non-XL.

the 12 v 10 shot capacity you refer to is not specific to one or the other. I have a couple of 12-round magazines that were sold with my P365.

the only other difference would be the slide and grip feel. That’s personal preference, to me.

I only have the XL, because the regular grip is too short for my mitts. It’s one of the best shooting pistols I’ve ever owned.

If you want the XL slide and regular grip, just buy a new grip module. They’re only about $50. You can transfer the fire control unit and slide into it and, Voila, you have a new pistol!

I’ve shot the P365. I have not tried the XL (but would like to.)

The XL will undoubtedly be a little easier to shoot due to longer grip, slightly greater weight and barrel length. To me the P365 is not hard to shoot, however, so then the question becomes one of what you’re comfortable carrying... if you’re coming to the Sigs from a G19/1911/etc carry, a P365XL is still going to seem very svelte so why not get the extra shootability? But if you’re coming to the Sigs from a Kahr PM9/Ruger LCP background, you’ll doubtless prefer the smaller version as being overall more versatile for CCW.

You can buy 12 round mags for the standard 365. That way you have the option of shorter 10 round mags for easier concealment, or 12 round mags for a better grip. I do shoot the gun a little better with the 12 round mags in it because it fits the hand a bit better. But the slightly shorter barrel doesn't seem to hurt anything for me. My 365 with 10 round mags has replaced the G43 for IWB carry and with 12 round mags OWB I shoot it just as well as any of my 4"-5" full size pistols.

I have both. Each is an excellent choice in its own right. The XL permits a full three-finger grip with a flush magazine and the slide is optic-ready. The standard is very concealable and pocketable. Both shoot very well, just make sure you are comfortable with a combat hold sight picture (front sight covering the target). Rumor has it that Sig is releasing a .380 version soon.

The really nice thing about this platform is the modularity. You can pick one complete gun and get new grip modules and other slides and change your gun in minutes.

I also have both. The XL's trigger seems a tad nicer, though I don't favor a flat trigger. I like the extra length, but haven't noted any differences in my accuracy between the two-- both versions are quite accurate. I am starting to ponder whether the 365XL is the best concealed carry pistol ever produced. It's the sweet spot for me between a LW Commander, double-stack DA/SA compact -- but far lighter, flatter, more concealable, great sights, awesome trigger, soft-shooter....

I would spring for the XL. I was seriously considering it for my next pistol, but I found a P320 M17 for my next gun and I already have a Shield 9 for CCW to hold me over until I can save up for another toy. The optic cut is a non-issue if you want to carry it for CC Self defense. It's great if you want a dedicated optic and are willing to lose the iron sights.

I owned them both. I still have the P365XL in my carry rotation and deep sixed the P365. It just never felt right in my hand. To small. I've even added a Hogue Handall to my XL and have the perfect fit. I wish Sig would offer different grip inserts for them. The slide length difference is negligible. I carry the P365XL AIWB comfortably.

I wish Sig would make a 938 compact to be a big brother to the 938 micro compact. I have the 938 Legion which I like but I wish it was a tad bigger.

I like them both, although I carry the standard P365 more. I wish that Sig had picked one trigger (flat or curved) and put it on both versions. Switching back and forth between guns is not as convenient as it could be.

Which do you like better, curved or straight?

For me the 365 is the right compromise of size/performance. It hides well and I found I prefer a flat trigger and Mcarbo springs. I have 12 round mags but prefer the 10 without pinkie extension-again conceal ability and comfort. The XL is just enough larger to not work (as in really not work) with my preferred carry method

The P365 is only slightly larger than the G42, another great concealed carry choice.
The 365 with the 10 round mag is eminently pocketable, especially with an Alabama pocket rig.
If you really want a small holster gun, the 365XL is a better choice.
But the regular 365 is an easy and reliable shooter; you won't be unhappy with either.

Recommend the XL, for the added Bbl length alone.

Effective Bbl length is ~ 2.2" v. 2.8"... or ~ 36% more.

I have about 3500 through each and I do not have a clear preference at this time. It just takes an adjustment to go from one to the other, which is annoying.

Chronographed velocities from rounds shot in both my P365 and P365 XL show about a 40-60 fps higher velocity for the XL, which is about a 5% increase in velocity for the XL. That really does not matter much to me. The real difference that I notice is that shot-to-shot recovery times are slightly faster for the XL, which helps when playing gun games such as shooting plate racks.

I don't know if it's a good price but three days ago I happily paid 599 for my P365XL. A few years ago I took a look at the P365 but didn't bite. It seemed so tiny.... The XL is still small but gives an excellent grip, night sights, more barrel and shoots good. For pocket I am covered with my PM9. And now I own my first SIG NIB.

I put the XL grip frame and flat trigger on my P365 and LOVE it!

The Sig P365 is my choice and could easily have chosen any other pistol to recommend to my GF for her first EDC and for receiving one back in return. I want small, light, thin, compact... and of course, accurate, reliable. To me, this is not a range gun, it's a sub compact defensive, up close 9mm that will protect me and the family any day of the week. Funny thing, all these years, with larger Glocks and 1911's for EDC, bedside, backcountry and travel, I carried a NAA .22 Mini Mag for up very close and personal for running. I will still carry the NAA while running but for around town, and when I need small, super compact, thin and 9mm, the Sig P365 in a Tulster is a dream pistol that fills every need I have to carry. My 1911 CCO .45Auto and G19 are my carry backups that I still take for travel and EDC. Enjoy whatever pistol you carry and shoot best and is the most comfortable.

I purchased my P365XL first...comparing it to a G43X. I really like my XL. Then I heard all the hype about the P365 and went out and got one. Great little shooter, just a little to small for my hands. Never felt comfortable. I even added a Hogue Handall to it...just couldn't swell the grip enough to like it. I sold it and the quest goes onfor the perfect pocket pistol for me. I'm taking a hard look at the Ruger Max 9.

Size and weight-wise, I don't think there's a whole lot of difference between the XL and the MAX 9. I handled them both, at the same time for about ten minutes, and they "felt" pretty much the same to me. I liked them equally but I liked the price of the Ruger better. Much better.
