So my 357-180-sil bullet requires maximum oal of 1.590 when loaded. Where would you seat the bullet? Currently I'm using 1.580 but may up it to 1.585 when I get crimp growth figured out.
What you think is a crimp grove would exceed sammi spec by a lot. My next batch I'll measureWhat's the problem with using the crimp groove (assuming it has one...)?
Looking at generic pictures of that bullet online and it seems like using the crimp groove should work for most applications.
Where you can roll crimp into the cannelure. Adjust max powder charge if needed vs OAL in load book.Where would you seat the bullet?
As long as it is not too long for the cylinder, you're OK.What you think is a crimp grove would exceed sammi spec by a lot. My next batch I'll measure
I'm in a worst case loading for multiple guns a pistol and lever, and a neighbor. Tons of functional testing in my near future. As long as it is not too long for the cylinder, you're OK.
When moulds become reasonable again I'll be hunting down a 158 round nose flat point. This situation is just a short term solution. You will likely need loads specific to each gun if you want to get all you can from your handloads.
If your wanting something to work in everything I would think you would have some better luck with a more common weight bullet like a 158.
Good luck
