I know it is a weird title, but here' the problem. I'm going through my late brother's firearms to decide what to keep and what to sell [to get money for my sister-in-law for moving expenses and bills to pay]. My nephew wants the Yugo M70. Today's prices are one thing, but staying in the family is another thing. Yet, my other brother [dad of the nephew] and my nephew want to be fair to my sister-in-law and give her something for it. My late brother bought this roughly 10 years ago...back when AK prices aren't were they are now.

So the question is, what do you think my brother paid for this rifle at that time? I can't remember.

And my nephew isn't going to get it and sell it. He's keeping it as a remembrance. My other brother is keeping an 1895 Nagant revolver. I'm keeping a Russian Makarov.

I was thinking that my brother probably spent around $600. My other brother wants to be fair, of course. Even though my sister-in-law said, yesterday, that she doesn't really care about the money, just needed them out of the apartment.

Thank for the reply!

He probably could have easily spent around that. Especially if he bought a couple mags or some ammo at the time too. Or a dealer charging on the high side normal. $600 dosen't sound out of the realm of possible at all.

I bought an Arsenal slr107 back in that time frame. Figured to keep it forever and never think twice about having it in my safe. Quickly shoved my head up my rear and sold it... but I remember comparing prices to a bunch of things. Yugos were mid 500 range depending upon who you got it from. Someplace like JG sales would have been in the 529 or so range and the tactical shops would have been upper 5xx low 6xx range. Look for old JG ads, that’s the best way to know a solid number from that time period.

I found a shotgun news ad from 2012 and yugos in a couple flavors were around 650. 2010 was not far removed from those prices.

I bought my Yugo M70 under folder, last of the pre assault ban but post Bush ban ones that came in Neutered with only a thumb hole stock for $600 in 1998 , I just looked it u in my records , it is Marked Mitchell Arms on it !.

Okay, thanks guys. I think I probably have a pretty good idea on what my brother paid for it and feel good about the amount my nephew gave for it and ~2000 rounds of the ammo. It will be good to keep the Yugo in the family.

Thank you, Ignition Override. It has been a very rough time.

The Russian Mak I'm keeping is the commercial version. I've never been all that fond of them, really. But will keep it for sure.
