Just ran across this older "clip".

That has been known to happen, I've read of more than one incident. No one was injured in most of them. Even with the safety engaged a dog stepping on the trigger guard could disengage a cross bolt safety and a claw could easily pull the trigger.

A shotgun blast at point blank range probably took that part of the foot off. Most small city hospitals are not capable of treating that kind of injury.
I live three blocks from our hospital in a city of 15,000, the medic-helicopter comes to trsnsport injured people to Harborview trauma center in Seattle atleast once a day. Some times three to four times a day.
They fly tree top height over our house.

Once I went to the hospital and a guy came in with a gun shot wound and a half an hour later another guy can in with a gun shot wound.
Both of them took a helicopter ride to the Seattle trauma center. I talk with the doctor about gun shot injurys and he said most are self inflicted.and then from leaning a rifle or shotgun against a car or truck. When the gun slides or get knocked over it goes off and people get shot. Some states it is illegal to lean a gun against a car or truck

The dog's name was Trigger! You can't make up this stuff!

Back when we had wax-coated paper shells, my buddies and I were taking a break while bird hunting, and one guy laid his shotgun across an electrified fence at a post. We started talking and snacking and a few minutes later, I saw smoke curling out of the shotgun barrel and grabbed the gun, keeping it pointed in a safe direction. Accident avoided!

A buddy of mine was watching a duck hunter sculling toward a flock of ducks and at the right distance, grabbed the Browning Auto-Five and caught his ring on the trigger, firing it three times in a row! He wasn't hit by the shots, but the boat sank rather quickly and his finger was banged-up by the trigger guard. Fortunately, the water was shallow.

Having had a rem model 11 I can see where that would easily happen. The one I had had a very light trigger and was very easy to bump fire. It could even be bump fired from the shoulder if you did it just right. Would make a serious mess of a boat hull.

I knew a guy who was resting the butt of his shotgun on the ground. He had his hand resting over the muzzle. The hunting dog came running over to see him and pulled the trigger with his paw blowing the hunter’s hand mostly off. Turns out the gun was loaded with the safety off.

Stupid has its own just rewards.

Yup! seen the clipping where the dog knocked over the gun and some brush triggered it on the way down. Freak accidents for sure? Hmmm maybe the dog had an axe to grind.

Kicked the dog when she got home...

Dog;
I teach you to kick this dog!

Ignorance can be educated away, but stupid is a life sentence with no chance of parole.

It is illegal in Maine, but the 'disease' is worse than the punishment.

I only came here because I saw the quotes, and wondered what "clip" versus "magazine" foolishness was to be found inside.

However, I was pleasantly surprised. Give Trigger a cookie for teaching his owners a valuable gun safety lesson.
Give his owner a Darwin award!
