High Capacity, Subcompact Pistols

The P01 is somewhat compact-ish, but certainly not subcompact territory. It is comfortable enough to carry though, if you don't mind an all steel frame.

HK unfortunately doesn't make anything in the same size range as the shield and P365. I remember my first HK pistol was a USP 45 compact, and the first time I saw it and handled it I laughed, thought "THIS is their compact model??" It's barely smaller than my full size XD 45. But as was stated above, HK pistols are top notch, and will live longer than you, no matter how much you shoot it.

The CZ P-01 is a compact, aluminum-framed 9mm designed for LE and Military duty, but its compact size and the reduced weight due to its forged alloy frame make it ideal for discrete carry as well. Equipped with a decocker, the P-01 provides convenience for those who prefer hammer-down carry.

The DA/ decocker is very safe in everyday carry. The size is approx. Glock 19 , just a little smaller overall . Being the frame is aluminum I think it is 3 .oz heavier than the Glock 19, but IWB carries VERY well and the accuracy is superb, beyond any smaller guns I've seen and even better than the same size competition

Does HK make a pistol chambered in 9mm, configured like the popular Springfield HellCat, the SIG Model 365, the S&W Shield Plus and the Ruger MAX-9 pistols in terms of size, weight and magazine capacity? I'm in the market for a high capacity, lightweight, relatively small and utterly reliable pistol for edc (again :uhoh:) and am researching options. It has to have a manual safety. Thanks.
Your wish is on the drawing table.

I'm not a knee-jerk contrarian who says, "You all are spending too much money for premium brand guns when this cheap brand X will do just fine!" but there are occasionally lower priced guns that fit the bill pretty well now and then. A couple of years ago, Taurus had the PT111 G2 which was pretty highly thought of by a lot of people who were surprised to find they actually liked a Taurus automatic pistol. In terms of size, I found it to be just a tad too big to be a pocket pistol, but I guess it could be called a subcompact, and it's more comfortable to carry than say a Ruger SR9c. I have two of those Tauruses, and they were as reliable and accurate as my Ruger SR9c. They didn't have the high capacity of the Ruger, but 12+1 is high enough capacity.

Taurus had replaced that pistol with a model called simply the G2 and I guess later the G3c. I have no idea if they are as good as the PT111 G2 pistols I have, but if you'd rather own new than used, they'd be worth researching. I'd probably stay away from the gun that preceded the PT111 G2 (called just the PT 111) as I've heard they aren't as reliable as the later "G2" guns.

Personally, I've grown to dislike the idea of high capacity small 9mm's, and now opt for quality, small size and simplicity and carry a Kimber Micro 9. A really outstanding gun that actually CAN be carried in a large pocket when needed. That would be my first suggestion to anyone looking for a good small 9mm. But I'm sure there are many other great options out there, too.
