You know how the charity work goes. You offer to help and then it can get out of hand real fast before you know it. I am not an A5 guru. Before I start I need help with some resources. Some of you may know of more resources and please share them with me. Here is the story...

I have a neighbor that has an old Belgium made A5 that looks worse than it really is inside. Mechanically the gun looks fine and just needs a good cleaning. However, both the buttstock and forearm are split with pieces missing such that a repair is not feasable. I told him I would clean up the old shotgun and replace the wood if I could find replacements within his budget. I am not looking to make it a museum piece with expensive wood like Boyd's etc. Is there a common well known source for the A5 wood parts? I don't mind putting a finish on the new wood should I find suitable pieces.

I am not opposed to the synthetic pieces if it can make the gun work again for the owner. He is 74 and it was his grandad's gun. He is just thinking a couple hundred bucks can get it running again. I am not sure that's true. I don't want it to cost more than the gun is worth in the end. I have no such attachment to it.

Thanks for reading.

Midwest Gun Works has most of the parts available for the Auto-5, including stocks. The also have a free download of the Field Service Manual.

Numrich Arms and eBay are also good places to find parts. But you’ve got to know what you’re looking for on eBay; a lot of sellers don’t know what they have and they may be Remington or Savage parts.

Yeah it's kind of looking like his budget is not going to work. Wood replacements far exceed his $$$ limits.

Auto-5 prices are high right now. It’s a good time to sell. If you want money fast, offer it to Art’s. They’ll work their magic and sell it for $2000.
