You can buy a rail that attaches to your dust cover via drill and tap. Caspain makes one, maybe others.

Not sure if they are discontinued or not but you could likely acquire one if desired.

PS, looks like the stainless is still going but blued is discontinued.

Thanks, but if I did that I’d probably never find a comfortable holster for it. I’ll just have to suffer with the fact I’ll just have to carry a handheld, like I do anyway. :)

Only when I find something i really like. Doesn't stop me from carrying an older carry though. At the beginning of the pandemic I was carrying my 40 more as the ammo was still available compared to 9mm at the time.

Just trying to help. I carry a streamlight stylus pro on my off side in my back pocket next to my wallet. It ain't super tactical but it serves me well. I have carried a sure fire 6P in a dual mag pouch, but I used it for navigation and other stuff so much the cost of batteries bout broke me.

I have always rotated since I been CC'ing. I bought a G 29 10mm about six months ago and been CC'ing it 90% of the time here lately.

Does it have an LED or the original lamp?
LED lasts much longer, battery wise.
Regular. I didn't know that though, thanks. I like the 6P for it's simplicity and reliability. I'll have to do some research to see if I can convert it.

The streamlight though has proven reliable over several lights, and is handy because I can put it in my mouth when I need a third hand. And because it takes AAA batteries, keeping it going is cheap and easy.

Lots of diversity here which isn’t surprising. I notice a majority aren’t carrying the same one over the 10 year mark. Though I’m a bit surprised how many are in the +10 years.

Just solely based on the people I know I’d have guess probably half would have been around the 5 year mark. Most of the people I know change whenever the next big popular thing comes out, they all had an LCP, now a Shield. Come to think of it marketing and what’s popular probably does more to influence their carry guns than anything, but most of these guy aren’t big gun guys they carry and buy guns, not a lot of actual research and thought goes into any purchases, they generally don’t do a lot of shooting either.

Lots of things change in 10 years. CCW wasn't even a thing until what, the late 80's! 88 maybe. Tupperware combat technology has given us some really cool options once everyone realized Glock may have been on to something. Cool guns everywhere!

That being said my Kimber Pro Carry has been on or near me since the mid 2000's. I have lots of others and shoot them all. But always come back to the Pro-Carry.

Guns I have carried for more than a few days include, smith 642, naa mini, glock 22, 1911 in commander & 5", smith 4006. Only for a few days or times have I carried, keltec pf9, Ruger lcp, bersa thunder 380, smith 686.

Not counting the GP100 and short barreled SBH I'm working with now. I'm trying to figure out holsters for each and reloads too. Not that I don't like the 1911, but the others I enjoy shooting more.

It does take some experimentation to figure out what you need, and what works.

This thread is very timely for me. It dawned on me just a while back that I have historically carried a pistol for about 4 years before swapping it out.
1911 - 4 years
G19 - 4 years
Shield 9 - 3.5 years (at this point, but about to change).

With all of that said, I've been very happy with my Shield 9. I have two other pistols "waiting in the wings," but they're both Shields. A Shield Plus in 9mm and a PC Shield 45 4". In thinking about this, it also dawned on me that I may have bought my last carry pistols. All I need are mags for the Plus and get the .45 to feed right. If I can do those two things, I'm not sure I'll ever need a different CC pistol.

+1! The rate of change has accelerated over the years, too. If you were able to legally CCW from 1950 to 1975 the auto options wouldn't have changed much in those years (especially in mil/duty calibers). For many it was a 1911 if you wanted a .45ACP or a BHP if you wanted a double stack 9mm. Eventually the CZ75 entered the mic, as did the Beretta 92F. Things started to change after the introduction of the Glock. Now there are hundreds of very solid autos in virtually any size, shape or color. I primarily carried a cocked-and-locked BHP for two decades; after I retired it to range duty at least 7 or 8 have followed it.

I don't think age factors in at all. But technology plays a big role for me. Striker guns have changed the state of CCW along with widespread use of polymers. But probably the biggest game-changer for me personally has been the HK LEM trigger system.

And I appreciate it too, I was just trying to be funny. I always carry a handheld regardless of weather my carry has one. Apparently there are times it is frowned upon to use the pistol mounted light to look for things in the dark.

I carry a Ruger SP101 .357 most of the time. I also sometimes carry my Glock 42. These are my only two carry guns, and I feel very comfortable with either. Clothing usually dictates which I leave home 20 with.
