One of the few guns I wish I had back.
Dano

Not mine, but I've shot it. My stepdad carried this back in `74 when he served briefly as the Town Marshall of Potlatch, ID. Potlatch was a rough logging town 15 miles from where I grew up. Johnny Cash was quoted as saying it was the toughest town he had ever played.

Dad carried this massive Ruger because he claimed the sight of him clearing leather with that behemoth had a very calming effect on the rowdy drunks.

Here's one of mine.

It's a Ruger Super Blackhawk with a 4-5/8" barrel. Modifications include a Bisley grip frame and trigger with black micarta hogue grips (for recoil control); regular Blackhawk hammer (because it's far easier to cock with support hand thumb); Power Customs base pin (the original would not stay put under recoil); extra tall front sight; Bowen Classic Arms Target rear sight; trigger job and reduced weight hammer spring. Set up for 300-310gr projectiles.

Started as SBH. I begun thinking about this conversion when few years earlier stumbled upon stainless 45 Colt Bisley Vaquero. At that time I was in Canada, and no stainless Bisley 44 Magnum. On top of that, I prefer fluted cylinder. So, I purchased SBH and sent both revolvers for conversion. I am pleased with result:

Lockup of the cylinder is just unbelievable, almost like FA. Hope to install soon Keith style #5 base pin (no set screw) and new latch. Small problem; factory pin on this revolver is .248" dia, while aftermarket pin is about .249-.2495" dia. Measured using just caliper, no micrometer where I am now. Once this corona is over, will go to polish new pin, install it and will post a new picture.
