I am having my 1862 Police Uberti .36 worked on by The Outlaw Kid. I provided him with 5 of the new stainless SliXshot nipples that they now make specifically for this gun. He mentioned he had to turn down his regular nipple wrench to fit the smaller cylinder to install these nipples. I am assuming the Baby Dragoons, Wells Fargo models and the Pocket .31's all share these smaller nipples.
So What type of wrench do most folks use on these small frame revolvers? I did a search but could not find anything positive. I will be getting the gun back soon so I wish to have the correct wrench when it arrives. Thanks!

I mean, why not ask for the wrench and pay to replace it? That sounds fair to me.

Any Uberti nipple wrench will take out the factory nipples and the slix shot sells a nipple wrench that works for those.

Pacolt the 1862 is a small frame 5 shot. My gunsmith told my he had to turn down a nipple wrench to fit. The nipples may be standard but the room around them is tighter than normal. The wrenches Ephraim linked above are made specifically for these small revolvers.

I took the 1862 uberti police stock nipples out with a regular uberti nipple wrench that I use with my walker. When I bought the slixshot nipples I bought there wrench also which fit fine.

Pacolt, if you read my opening comment above you will notice that the gunsmith working on my gun is The Outlaw Kid. If HE tells me his regular nipple wrench will not fit my 1862 Police that's when I start looking for a smaller one that will. Clearly from the above examples by other gentleman these smaller "pocket pistol" wrenches exist and are available. I am glad the nipple wrenches you own do fit these small frame guns, good for you. But it is quite obvious that not all wrenches do.
That was the information I was seeking. So thanks Fingers McGee, 44 Dave and Ephraim for trying to help me out, and providing the information that I needed. It is very much appreciated. Well done Sirs...

Well I thought telling you my real life experience would help you. Especially since you bought the slix shots the same as I did. I guess sometimes it's better keeping to yourself and not comment to try to help.

Hey pacolt. You are right. My reply to you had a nasty edge that I really did not really mean to include. You did not deserve that. It was after midnight and I was tired and was having a bad day. I appreciate you trying to help by giving your imputt on the whole wrench matter. In the future I will re-read my replys before hitting that green button.

no worries. I should have had more substance in my reply to your first message in your post with specifics of the wrenches i used for my pocket pistol.

None of my wrenches would fit my '62, but I had no trouble finding one that did. One outfit sold five spare pocket nipples, and included the wrench for less $$$ than buying both separately. I didn't need any spare cones, but what the heck it don't hurt to have spare cones, so that's the one I bought. But of course I don't remember who I got that from.

With all the nipple wrenches made over the years, by different companies, it's not surprising that Pacolt would have one that fit the bigger guns and the '62. But generally speaking, most are too fat for the pocket guns.

To Pacolt : Sir you were absolutely correct. I bought a SliXshot nipple wrench and it fit the "Baby Colt" 1862 Police perfectly. You were right from the start. Thanks!

Great. I'm glad you got one. I am impressed with the slixshot nipples, especially since the stock nipples wouldn't fire off caps.
