Most accurate AR15s

That is not an easy question to answer. The best accuracy is going to come from the highest quality barrel to go with that quality ammunition. The are several barrel maker that turn out very high quality barrels for ARs that would produce very good accuracy. Trying to name a most accurate would be nigh impossible even if you became far more specific in terms of measured accuracy and range and other cartridge requirements.

Totally agree, but here are two you can't go wrong with.

What caliber ?

IMHO, there are advantages to a 6.5 Grendel .

If you are talking about just .223 / 5.56 manufacturers... well that depends on a lot of variables.

I can't believe how affordable those White Oak uppers are. It's strange really. I never really looked at these because I thought they were prohibitively expensive. When I saw that one with Geissele Mk7 rail, complete with BCG and CH for under a grand I almost whipped out the card, but I whipped out the card earlier for $1500 in car repairs and now the wife's car is going in so, no go.

I wonder why they are offered in Post ban/pre ban configuration. Is that a CMP thing or is there a new EO I need to know about?

MY 2 most accurate are a Larue carbine and another built by Barnes Precision. 77 gain Black Hills MK262 or 75 grain Hornady 75 grain BTHP.

I've got a SPR build that I did with a WOA 18" barrel with matched bolt that holds 3/4 MOA for 5 shots with a MK262 77 grain clone load. The load uses PMC "non-match prepped brass" and thrown charges of TAC. Basically bulk reloads produced on a Dillon 550.

It also stays just about 1/2 MOA with Nosler 55 BTs and Varget in match prepped brass.

I'm very pleased with that WOA barrel. The only mods I made to the gun were lapping the upper prior to assembly.

My equation that has worked to produce accurate ARs has been good barrel + good glass + good trigger. I've used relatively cheap Aero, Anderson and PSA upper/ lower combined with generic LPKs and free float handguards that work really well.

This one is a Aero upper/lower with a WOA barrel, leupold 3-9X, Larue MBT2 trigger. Everything else is bargain bin generic. With factory 77gr Fiocchi it'll do sub MOA easily to 500.

Direct Impingement, free floated high quality heavy barrel, quality aftermarket trigger, and the best optics you can afford.

I have the above configuration in a DPMS that will shoot 1 MOA (or less) with just about any good quality ammo.

The Centurion look okay for bog standard ARs at ridiculous prices. Lots of 80’s quad rail. Absolutely no upgrades, except those you pay for.
$400 for an upgraded trigger? $200 for a muzzle brake? Where is the sub-MOA guarantee for the $2400 rifle? Spending that much on an AR aught to get me a a test target.

They have a really neat story about the Army, or whatever, and that their barrels use super double secret, machine gun steel that is hammer forged but, I buy rifles not stories.

You said you wanted an accurate rifle. I’d start with one that came with an accuracy guarantee and a competitive background. When it comes down to it I think it’s about bolt lockup and the barrel. A consistent lockup, good ignition and pointed in the right direction makes everything else the barrel. A barrel with a known reputation, perhaps even a good competition record.

JPCustom, Compass Lake, White Oak Armory, or things with Shilen and Krieger barrels.

Or like Mavracer said, build one. All you need is a torque wrench. I’m a carpenter, not a machinist and I’ve made one or three.

Or for the centurion price, build two...;)

(Actually for that much, in this market with careful waiting, one could purchase a name brand rifle, or build a premium name brand everything rifle. It’s like hunting for me.)

I would consider the one that shot the smallest group to be the most accurate.

I have had fairly inexpensive ones put 10 rounds under an inch at 100 yards though.

This.

I’ve had two AR’s that would shoot 1/2” or better. One is a Wyndham Bushmaster with a Wilson Air Gauged Match grade barrel. 6.5-20x40 Leupold VX-III. Varmint trigger that breaks cleanly at 2 pounds. 50 grain Nosler BT’s over 26.0 of Varget. Shot multiple dime sized groups at 200+ yards.

The other was a custom .358 WSSM made by Dedicated Technologies. Shilen match barrel. Timney trigger. It would shoot .4’s.

The Del-ton 20 inch Government profile I had did that.

Mine too, and I bought it because it was cheap! 7/8” with 5 shots. I’ll admit it was hand loads, shooting from a rest but with the factory iron sights. I was so impressed that the target is now hanging on the wall near my loading bench.

For kicks I would build with a Bison Armory (supplied) match barrel, match carrier, and LaRue trigger. Midwest industries or a high end 7075 free float handguard.
