Oh how I love a good southern accent.
When I was 18 years old I met a girl from Alabama. She was 5 ft nothin' 110 lbs blond drove a Camaro. Was some kind of professional dancer that made good tips.
Man I LOVED that southern accent. LOL.

After sending a SR40 back to them three time without getting anything done, I'm done with Ruger.
I will never own another Ruger as long as I live.

Why are regional accents part of this discussion? Is the OP insinuating that there is a correlation between accent and competency? If not , then the speech characteristics of the Ruger staffers are irrelevant.

Having deliberately chosen that particular service center , were you expecting an Australian accent? Greek , perhaps?

Wow. No idea where the hostility and anger is coming from. I presented the accents in a positive light and said all of the CS reps were very friendly and sweet.

Why do gun owners persist in choosing to be triggered and attack each other? Especially in these current times when the entire US government is opposed to us, we have to be triggered by a fellow gun owner and supporter of the RKBA mentioning a Southern accent when dealing with a customer service person?

I've had awesome luck with Ruger customer service. They retimed my old Single Six, recut the forcing cone, installed a new higher front sight, and touched up the bluing, NO CHARGE . They sent me a new taller front sight for my SP101, NO CHARGE. They barreled my modal 77 MK 11 .308 Win NO CHARGE. They sent me a firing pin return spring support for my Mk 1 ..22 at NO CHARGE. Try and beat that for service !!! hdbiker

Trey-
My time here on THR and my general feelings towards topical discussions have made me inclined to lean towards staying on point. I would not characterize my comments as an attack ; they were intended to focus on Ruger car and your experience with that.

I stand by my references to the difficulties being experienced by many/most businesses of late, including and especially the firearm industry- just look at the numbers. That is not to say that mediocrity should be accepted as the new norm , but I do think that we need to give Ruger a fair chance here. Let see what they do for you in the coming days.

Again , my Ruger can experiences have been excellent , but that was before the world went mad. I hope they come through, for your sake and theirs.

Has their CS gone down hill? I know a few years back before the pandemic they had a great reputation for helping customers.

If Ruger too has plummeted in this regard, as have many gun companies, that is truly unfortunate and makes me reconsider some future purchases.

I called Ruger a few months ago, and asked for one of their red recoil pads for a 10/22 project I was working on. They sent it out to me, no charge. Same thing when I called and asked for a trigger spring for the SS back in January. No run-around, no transfers. Just "yes, we have one. If you'll give me your address, I'll send it right out to you." I can't complain about that.

he recounts being attached to an Army reserve unit from Arkansas on one deployment. Said he needed an interpreter.

Being a native Arkansawyer, I can fully appreciate that statement. HOWEVER, I would like to clarify that people from S. AR sound nothing like those of us from "the hills". Hillbilly is a pretty good mix of Irish and English with a little Cherokee thrown in for "flavor". And yes, you do need a translator sometimes. My wife is 1/4 German, we've been married 8 years, and she still looks at me funny sometimes when I say something.

To keep ppl happy and stay on topic I have had good luck with Ruger CS.
To add to the humor in the OPs post, the first time I got married back in the early 80s was in Maine. Great friendly ppl up there. Long story so don’t ask.I was born and raised in southern Oklahoma and yes I have a hillbilly accent. Anyway the JP that was gonna marry us was taking to me before the ceremony. A little later my ex father in law came over to me and said “he really doesn’t care about anything he is talking to you about. He just wants to hear you talk”. LOL. I swear I was the only SOB up there that didn’t have an accent. Could barely understand what they were saying when they talked. Hope you have a positive experience with Rugers CS.

All you had to do was tell the first rep that you were "fixin to fix yer Ruger" and she would have understood you right from the git-go.

Gots to speak the language :p

I have never had to deal with Ruger CS. In general, I have been happy with the Rugers I have owned. A big name 1911 maker impressed on me the importance of Customer Service - when they as much as called me a limp-wristed idiot that didn't know how to run a 1911, I became not only a former customer but an anti-customer (if that's a word). Sounds to me like Ruger is at least trying to satisfy their customers.

I own quite a few Ruger firearms, both rifle and handgun. I have never had to call Ruger.

I grew up in west Texas and do not have an accent. Can't say the same for folks from other areas of our great country.

Comin' fum Noo Yawk I can say the same thing. I got no accent neither. It hoits me to have to listen to accents fum udder parts o' th' country. Espeshully the TV people who all seem to have Nebraska accents. Cheese, can't dey loin t' talk right?

In Chris Kyle's book "American Sniper" he recounts being attached to an Army reserve unit from Arkansas on one deployment. Said he needed an interpreter. And he was from Texas.

On a side note, a north Georgia accent is apparently exactly like Texas. My wife and I have traveled a bit around the USA and we are often asked if we're from Texas. South Georgia is completely different. For north Georgia think Jeff Foxworthy or the movie Deliverance. For south Georgia think Paula Deen, or the movie Gone with the Wind.
The real need for an interpretor is when you speak to a Cajun conservation officer. I stopped for fuel one time in Louisiana. He saw the fire and EMS plate and Michigan license plate.
He wanted to chat and i could understand half of it. He had the same issue.;)

I have a Bx 25 mag for my 10/22. I can not get though a full mag without a failure. So i called Ruger about it. They said send the mag in. And they will replace it. New one is doing the same thing. And again they want me to send it in. Im not going to bother. I'll have more in postage than the mag cost. I read the issues im having is common with them. I tried all the ''fixes'' too. The 10 round mags are flawless.

Have you ever tried an after-market magazine like Ramline? I have 4 each of their 30 & 50 round magazines and one of each are loaded with LRN solids and another pair are loaded with HPs. The other 4 magazines are "spares".

Probably a dozen or more Rugers over the years. Never an issue requiring CS. Everyone of them has been just fine. That said, I don't think they make them like they used to. Few companies these days do.

9 hours later and still no email said:
did you check your spam and junk mail? i have had many times been waiting on messages, thinking they were not sent only to find them in spam/junk mail.

somehow I screwed up the quote function but I think you will understand my message

Southern is southern for the most part.....and then there’s southern Louisiana. Can listen to them talk all day. Unfortunately, I’m not sure what they’re saying. But it sure is enjoyable.

Not sure how this 10/22 made it through final inspection . That was the varmint/target model, for the price I expected much more . How can a damaged crown not be noticed ? I asked if they had issues with sabotage, never did hear back on that one .

You betcha'! Lived in Iowa long enough to be very familiar with the Wisconsin and Minnesota dialects.
When I moved to SE Iowa from the Northeast my new friends said I talked funny. Told me they didn't have an accent, I did. I've had two good experiences dealing with Ruger CS. As I read the OP's post after possibly misdirecting him once they agreed to ship him what he needed and hadn't sent him a tracking number yet. He probably has the tracking info by now. QC on the other hand is a problem a lot manufacturers seem to have now or the internet just makes it seem that way.

I received a Ruger American Rimfire with no crown machining whatsoever. They threaded the barrel but never crowned it. They supplied a replacement, but was told I had to pay to return the dud because it was more than two years after the gun was made.

I have owned Rugers for a long time. My experience with CS has been anything but infamous. It has been great. They notify when they ship and you can track from that notice.

jmr40 Jeff Foxworthy is from Hapeville, GA. Hapeville is pretty close to where I grew up in Forest Park. I am trying to remember. There was someone I used to know that went to school with him or some such. Since the demographic of Clayton County has changed I don't know if they are still maintaining it but Stately Oaks (the old plantation house Margaret Mitchell spent a lot of time at) was restored & people were allowed to walk through & view it. As for me. I ain't got no accent. Them people from up North do. My mama was from Texas & we made a once a year trip out there to the thriving metropolis of Andrews, Texas to visit relatives. I don't remember any of my relatives there having accents.

As for Ruger customer service. I've owned a few Rugers & only used it once for a minor finish issue. They were top notch. Every once in a while I see someone who has a horrible experience with them but I suspect that is the exception rather than the rule.

I'm not from the South, but I've learned not to trust other non-Southernors who dislike Southern accents. I feel comfortable around Southern accents, generally speaking.
