45 Uberti versus 38 Ruger

The goal was the tightest group. There’s 18 rounds in each group. I used the same sight picture for all the groups. Once I try a few more loads in each I will try to adjust the sights to move the point of impact a little closer to the point of aim. I agree the Uberti groups look slightly better. I shot the Ruger first and my may have been warmed it a little when I got to the Uberti.

Has anyone made any corrections to move the point of impact? The Uberti is hitting about 5” low and both are about an 1or so to the right. I had the top of the front and rear sights level with the the top line of the targets right on the center line. I have already brought the Ruger point of impact up a couple inches by filing the front sight.

With the two fixed sight single action revolvers I have, I did file the front sight of my Bearcat just a bit. My Pietta 1860 actually threw off its front sight while I was firing it many years ago, so I took that opportunity to make and install a taller front sight. Both for POI adjustments.

I noticed you wrote155gn as your bullet weight for your 45. Before you take a file to the sight please try a 230-250 grain bullet. All 3 of my Ubertis shoot to the sights using 158gn for my 357 and 230-250gn for both of my 45s. Bullet weights make a huge difference in point of impact. And 155 is very light for 45s and will shoot low.

I agree with On target my Uberti Cattlemen shoots to POA using 250gr bullets.

I have Bullseye, Unique, W231 and 2400. Any moderate pet loads for 250 grain LSWCs?
