Any thoughts on the quality of these? russian kvb-9 small pistol (possibly tula). I’m new to reloading and wasn’t sure about these. Any comparison or big differences from Winchester SPP?

I've used these primers without firing issues. My challenge was with seating them. They tend to be much harder to seat...perhaps a fraction larger than CCI or Winchester. Most reports I've read say they're good to go. I'd as soon trade them for something else.

I haven't had problems with any of the Russian primers. I just wish we could still get them. They were a great value. I have probably used 50k over the various sizes with no issues. Still using some I bought back in 2009. Whenever, I get a good deal on primers, I will buy all that I can afford. Primers are the weak link in reloading, IMHO. Best wishes!

Wish I purchased more Russian rifle primers as they have turned out to be the most consistent rifle primer I have used. If the pistol primers are similar, if you can get them to ignite, they will be great.

Primers being what they are right now... is .17/ea worth it?!?

Seems high but would you buy at that price or try to haggle? @Slamfire @kerreckt

I'm not familiar with that specific primer, but even for the more mainstream domestic ones it's high. I think $0.075 - $0.11 is what I would expect to pay.

Would these be local or would you need to pay shipping/hazmat? If the latter, expect the to-your-door price to be closer to $0.20

I would NEVER pay .17/per primer.

I might if I had no primers in reserve and absolutely no other options. That said, I think there are other options for the OP:

- Powder Valley had CCI 500s for about $55 recently, though you would need to pay hazmat. Still it would be less than $0.10/primer.

- I've seen primers for $0.075 to $0.12 each at flea markets.

- Academy gets primers in, not sure the price but likely $0.06/primer (probably limited to a sleeve of 100)

- Midway occasionally gets them in, likely would be $0.11/primer to your door.

local guy, I may see if he’ll take less. If not I’ll wait.
