They say I left some information off the top of my print cards and now I'm disapproved.

After waiting since mid Oct. for an Eform 1, to say I'm just frustrated would be a gross understatement.

Only other info I got was they're processing a refund. Would have been nice to have had the print cards returned to add the info, but I guess on an Eform it's all or nothing.

So I guess I start from scratch all over again. No one to blame but myself, but it still sucks.

I had a batch of paperwork returned with yellow highlighter marks showing what was missed. There was also a note saying I had one chance to fix it. It was approved a few weeks after I returned it.

Use the "Ask the experts' feature and overnight a new set of cards.

Eform1 or paper application?
Mine have all been paper. I did find your account odd. I figured there would be no difference how they handled issues. Obviously I should know to never assume anything- especially when the government is involved!

Just got off the phone with the NFA section of the ATF, was told unequivocally a new Eform1 application must be started, no salvaging the present one.

He says the present time frame for Eform1 applications is now averaging 60 days.

My examiner called me and sent the form back that I had to modify. It was right around the time they quit accepting “multi” and I has to change that to one and list every other possibility at 4a.?

Individuals are different absolutely. Got a CALL once to say I messed up... so he could walk me through what I did wrong, correct it! Others just show rejected and I have to figure it out myself, eventually. It varies weirdly, but I sorta assume all super nice and helpful, just often overworked.

No need to list every possible caliber, just one.
Only silencer calibers cannot change. SBR/SBS/AOW calibers can change after you get your stamp. Nothing else required.

Yep.
I have a customer that submitted two identical Form 4's via Silencer Shop. One was returned with an error letter because "The" wasn't included in the trust name on his F4.
Both F4's were approved by the same examiner on the same day.....yet only one had "The" handwritten in the F4.

What's always been aggravating to me is ATF has always told licensees to "record what is actually engraved on the firearm!" ..............yet manufacturers are being allowed to submit info NOT actually marked on the firearm.
Dead Air- not on the F4, instead its BP Products or KGMade.
AAC- not on the F4, instead its Remington.
Gemtech- not on the F4, instead its S&W
Griffin- nope, not on the F4, instead its Hearing Protection LLC

You've paid several hundred $$$$, $200 in taxes...........and the manufacturer can't even get his name right on that initial Form 3.

So when a FFL/SOT tries to fill out an accurate Form 4.........it may be disapproved because the new Form 4 doesn't match whats in the registry!

I think the disapproval after 4 1/2 months has taken the wind out of my sails, causing me to somewhat lose interest.

Have to hang around here more often and try and get the interest back.

Filing out the application on my old computer was a nightmare in itself, plus getting print cards, printed, etc. Hard to get started again.

Never been disapproved, but I have had to fix errors. Once, the form came back needing a few minor corrections. One was to change the caliber from .3 to .30. The original number was right off the manufacturer's info.

OK, resubmitted a new eForm1 application today, seriously frustrating. The application crashed twice, meaning I had to start a new application 3 times.

Small answers to questions that worked on one didn't work on another. God knows how old the program they're using is, no business could stay in business with the built in aggravation from their software.

And popups? Who uses popups anymore? Most computers are set to ignore them, although they do say to turn that off.

All in all, extremely bothersome. But, it's in, now for the wait. I've already got their print cards, will go to my local police and get printed tomorrow and be ready to submit them. When I last talked to them at the time of the rejection, I was told the wait then was 60 days.

We'll see what it is now, hopefully in before some new law....

I had a form 1 explosive destructive device (aka a pipe bomb) disapproved, it was my first explosive DD. I submitted it, they returned the cover letter the same day!
So I didn't ever bother to start looking for the cover letter till about 5 days later, didn't see it, checked a few days later, didn't see it, then by the time I found the cover letter I had blown by the 10 day post mark return date.
My fault.
Yeah so it looks like there is 1 guy than only handles the explosive DDs and he isn't exactly swamped with form ones.

Yeah that's normal.

I'll put this plain and simple.

I got hired by the army because I know how to program in COBOL.

I think the ATF runs on something similar.

Got an email yesterday from BATF saying all the data on my form had not transmitted and she wanted me to refile, certify, and copy it, then contact her with the new form ID number, and she would transfer the funding portion from the old one onto the new. What!?

Keep in mind this is on a Sun. of a holiday weekend! Who knew they worked then?

Needless to say, I’m not thrilled about this, had a hard enough time filling out the form to begin with, and my computer skills are very sketchy. My wife had to help me attach the photo, and now she’s away in HI visiting our son and his family. I figure I’m screwed.

I send an email back stating this, figured I’d hear back from her on Tue, but I get a kind email back shortly after saying she’ll help me through it in detail, and telling me she has confidence I can do it.

We went back and forth a few times when I wasn’t sure of a detail, and she helped me each time. Finally ready to be submitted and she transferred the funds and notified me all was well.

This agent could not have been kinder or more helpful! Thanked her profusely and I”m thrilled it wasn’t just rejected. Now the wait begins....

Fantastic!
I am always amazed at the wonderful people working the phones there. Why can’t they be hired for other businesses that I call much more frequently?:D

I’m super happy you aren’t skunked. It’s totally worth it. I have four now…:)

What web site did you fill out the Eform from? I am going to start the process for my first SBR and don't know where to start. Any help would be appreciated.

I just Googled "BATF eform1" and the site came up.

But you have to register with them first and get an ID # and password.

Is the eForm 1 wait times still around 3 weeks max?

I did 3 last summer, 2 SBR's and a silencer. First SBR took 23 days, the other SBR and silencer I sent off together and got the stamps in 17 days.

ATF knocked it out of the park with the eForm 1's. Their too easy to do. Only thing that I got hung up on was the BY MANUFACTORER CODE on the silencer. Googled it and found out it was FMI. All was well after that.
