Bersa thunder 380. Thoughts?

I have one and carry it every sunday. Good gun
I do the same thing. I conceal carry and usually don't care if my shirt occasionally rides up and exposes the handgun on my hip. In church I, along with a few others that carry, like to remain low key. My Thunder CC slips easily into the right pocket, just below the elbow, of my suit coat with an extra magazine in the left.

I’ve had a couple and really liked them both, but I have to agree with what Gunny said. Given the price of the Bersa these days, I’d stretch a wee bit and snag a S&W M&P EZ. Not as much character, but superior function in the same size/caliber/capacity class.

I've shot a Bersa 83a and other than safety throwing forward instead down I thought it was a fine pistol.

I had a Bersa 380 years ago. It was reliable and accurate and reasonably priced back then. The Bersa 380 was definitely nicer to shoot than my FEG PA63 in 9x18 even though they are about the same size.

I like 380, it is my normal carry pistol calibre and I have several others in 380. That said, I am no fan of blowback pistols. At this point, other than my 22lr pistols, the only blowback I have is my Makarov in 9x18, and it doesn't see much use.

If you like it, then that is great, but I simply do not recommend any blowback pistols other than 22s'.

From the posts here it seems to be a good pistol. I had one about 10 years ago. It feels perfect in the hand and accuracy is good. I must be the exception, though, as far as reliability. I went through a few boxes of ammo with mine and it would stovepipe round #5 every single time like clockwork. Maybe I had a bad magazine.

Dependable handguns. I prefer my Astra A60 mostly because of its 14 rd. capacity. Bersa makes a good firearm. I own a number of them.

I just brought one home. All the reviews on Youtube say it all, only problem is the cost of spare mags. I have a LCPII .380 as well but this will be more enjoyable for longer range times than that is, and feels good in my hand, much like my Shield 2.0 9mm. In my opinion, its a great first concealed carry gun. Moderately priced, simple, accurate, large enough to train with and small enough to conceal. It has a manual safety, magazine disconnect, and a long double action trigger. Thats what got me comfortable with carrying a loaded firearm consistently. Now, is it the best CCW all told? Nope, but its a great place to start.

Agreed. This in fact was my first carry pistol. Carried it with us when we did our 6000 mile western USA vacation trip. I bought it for $275 and figured at that price, I could afford to lose it. Shoots great, although the recoil is worse than my lcp or pm380, but it would be as a blowback. Haven't shot it in some time, nor carried it.

I like mine. I bought it new in 2006 and it hasn't failed me. A couple of words of caution: gripping too high or having your thumb in too tight will definitely give you slide bite. Also, the blowback design is a bit robust in the recoil department. Best advice - buy it, shoot it, rinse and repeat :)

I have the .380cc. It’s never failed. Very good carry gun. Not for target shooting though it’s very accurate with its tiny sites at self defense distances.

I bought one in 2005. It's been reliable and accurate (for a pocket pistol). I use it to spare my Colt Mustang abuse. In 2013, after 8-900 rounds the double action trigger started to fail to drop the hammer when I staged the trigger pull slowly to keep the sights on target. I could pull the trigger to the stop and the hammer wouldn't always release. The authorized Bersa smith replaced the offending trigger and the problem went away.
I still think it's a good gun; all guns wear. This one faster than my more expensive guns but Bersa warranty is lifetime so if you're not shooting it every weekend or you just keep in in your glove box or night stand It should serve you well.
Mine does not shoot cast bullets well but it functions with any hardball or HP bullet I've shot in it.

Pretty pleased with the Bersa 83a I shot, for me the thumb safety is backwards to what I'm used to but with a DA/SA I don't need to use the thumb safety I guess. I guess Bersa took the Walther route on this.

I had my 1st range day with 75 rounds, 50 FMJ 95gr FP and 56gr ARX. Flawless with both, anxious to add a couple more magazines, but with only one, it slowed me down, and I was really able to get used to it and enjoyed the time. Accurate and very comfortable shooter.

I almost bought one but it's not left hand friendly. Fortunately around the same time, the Beretta 81's were being imported and i grabbed one of the 81bb's in 7.65. Very happy with the Beretta! If the Bersa had an ambi safety i would get one in a heart beat.

Don't care for the caliber, the size of that pistol, or the system of operation.

I didn't want to say it first and be the only one.
380 = "better than nothing" which is thankfully not a criteria I have to use.
9mm pistols available that size, even smaller / lighter; 9mm pistols with a consistent trigger. (Sig 365, Hellcat, Glock 43)

I had a Walther PPK in the past - had.

Mine really stings the web of my hand when I shoot it, which isn't often any more. Those things have a bite.

That's probably more of a PPK design problem than a Bersa problem, but I have shot a Makarov whose recoil didn't seem nearly as bad as the Bersa. Handguns are funny that way.

The Bersa is well built and has never given me any problems with feeding (one positive side of blowback). I got mine for $230 and have zero complaints about the quality for that price. Just wish the recoil was a bit more gentle.
