Maybe someone out there can help me. I've been trying to sign up for Armslist to sell some guns. But, I cannot figure out how to set up an account. Can you? I click on the "contact" link and have been unable to contact anyone to help. It always loops me back to the beginning and erases my input screen. Have others found it maddening??

I can’t offer any advice unfortunately. I used to love armslist but they made so many changes and made it less useful. They had an awesome advanced search of find very specific things, had search alerts and used to be able to post 1 thing a month for free. Now they charge for everything, took away features and made it harder to find what you want.

I sold all my no longer wanted guns on Armslist for years. Then they came up with the new policies and systems. What a mess it is. Fortunately, I have only pistols these days. I am not even considering selling them. I am also not considering buying additional guns. So I just decided to forget about Armslist.

I haven't bothered with them in years. Gunbroker has been the best in recent memory for buying and selling. Naturally, your mileage may vary.

That sums it up accurately.
For several years I made very good use of Armslist , buying and selling. I had the standard account. Met some real good people in the process , good deals , win/win. Last winter I decided to suck it up and pay the new fee in order to list a couple items for sale. I waited for a week while my account upgrade was supposedly "being processed" , then started sending inquiry emails twice per week for a month and a half.
No upgrade , no response to emails , no nothing.

You know how a snake keeps squirming around for a while after the head is chopped off? That's ARMSLIST today.

Armslist used to be the first place I looked for handguns before they changed their policy. FTF transactions with no FFL fee or taxes was as Waveski says a win/win. They've ruined it.

You can always look up hunting, shooting forums in your area and sell on them. Like www.gon.com it’s Georgia outdoor news. Had one in Virginia when I lived up there. And one in NC.

I wanted to go Armslist, too, because I want to sell face-to-face. That's not happening, though. I guess sooner or later I'll sell and ship one through GB and see how that goes. If it ends up being okay and doesn't eat up much in shipping, more will likely follow.

Folks who want to sell ftf google firearm forums in your state. Join and list. Been doing this for years.

Luckily we have "Florida Guntrader" here in the Gunshine State. Bad thing is all the Armslist scammers are going there now.

We have them at Gon.com as well. Good thing is they are dumb. And easily avoided. But it works or they would have stopped. So someone is falling prey.

My Armslist saga continues.......Looked at my CC summary on line and 2 new charges to Armslist have posted, $6.99 each. The $6.99 is what they charge for a monthly service. I attempted to complete the signing-up process, but gave up. This now makes 6 transactions recorded on my credit card, 4 charging me $6.99 and 2 removing $6.99. I'm assuming this is being done via computer. Attempts to contact Armslist were futile, so now I have to dispute the charges. What a damn mess!!

Armslist was created —

For local convenience
And to avoid payment Fraud.

* Where is the convenience if owners can't be contacted about sign-up problems?

I got charged for an Armslist account for 3 consecutive months after I cancelled my subscription.
Guns listed for sale by local shops that shuttered 5 years ago? Nah.

I still look at the ads on Armslist. I can kind of see them charging sellers to post ads but I can't understand why you have to sign up and pay to respond to ads. Alot of sellers post contact info to get around that. I keep wondering if Armslist will delete that sometime in the future.
They had a wildly successful business model at one time. They've pretty much killed it off. We used to have 5 or 6 pages of private ads locally. Now there's 1 or 2.
I don't know of any state trading site here. We do have some stores that will take in consignments. You pay for that service though.
Maybe some business savvy members here should pick up the challenge and create a new service that did what Armslist used to do.

You might try gunlistings.org, you can select your state to look at and post listings. It has taken over from armslist at least in my state, armslist used to have 400 pistols listed and gunlistings about a hundred, ever since armslist changed it has reversed with gunlistings showing 300+ pistol listings and very few on armslist.

For some reason gunlistings.org gets very little volume.
For example: for the entire state of Wisconsin there are about 10 handgun list covering a period of 3 weeks.

When Armslist was still good - before the fees and general disfunction - it had that many handgun listings in my city of 50,000 in a week. The overall state handgun listings ran on for pages.

I don’t know why gunlistings has so little traffic.
