Picked up this little colt today for the wife. Were these original grips on a mustang? They're ugly but if original I'll keep them 0606211720b.jpg 0606211720a.jpg

I do not think the OP's grips are original from the factory but, if they fit well, they should be fine.

But the roll markings on the OP's gun are not the same as I have seen on most Mustangs as bannockburn's pictures show. I know the Mustang was out of production for a while and that may account for the difference in markings.

I feel the Mustangs from the 1980's are much better than the Sig 238's and Kimber Micros. Mine from the mid-1989's still has the polymer guide rod and no trigger enhancements and it out shoots the current Sig and Kimber versions.

I have both the Colt Mustang and the SIG P238. The Mustang has the better trigger between the two but the P238 has the better sights. Both are well built, reliable, and possess decent accuracy.

I have all three, the Mustang, Sig P238 and the Kimber Micro. My Sig is an early production model and they had poor reliability until Sig figured out how to fix it primarily with the flat wire main recoil spring.

The Kimber is a good clone of the Mustang but shows the difference in fit and finish between manufacturing in the 1980's and the 2000's. I do like some of the color choices that Kimber offers/offered especially the Bel Air. I'm a sucker for a good '57 Chevy.

Once Sig fixed the P238, all three perform reliably.

It's funny how what was old is now new. The Mustang, P238, and Kimber Micro can all trace their heritage back to the Colt pony which was nothing but a Star Model D. Colt made a few design changes to the Pony to come up with the Mustang after they stopped the joint Pony venture with Star.

I’d love to have one of those to compliment my Government .380...

well I guess I'm not the only one who want one simply to compliment the Government model. We may find ourselves bidding against each other on Gun Broker one day... did I say Gun Broker? I meant Guns America. That's right, Guns America. Gun Broker never has Mustangs for sale so don't waste your time looking.

I've got a thing for 1970-80s pistols (btw, that's not rust on the Gov't slide, just needed to be wiped down).

You can't go wrong wether it is an old Star D, Colt Pony, Colt Mustang, Colt Government, Kimber Micro, Sig 238/938, or Springfield Armory 911.

Not original grips. A few years ago Colt had a pair of guns for an NRA raffle/prize. Came as a pair.. one was a Gov't 1911 and the other was a Mustang. They both had those grips (the guns were stainless). Nice find though, been looking for another Colt Pocketlite forever. They stopped making them last year.

Sorry, Jeff, but those grip panels are butt-ugly (pun intended). Armybrat and bannockburn have the pistols with the appropriate stocks.

But, the Mustang is a great little .380. Of course, I have no credibility since I'm a well-know Colt fan.

Nice stag grips on your Mustang Pocketlite! The Cousins are great too! Always good to have family together!

Nice pistols everyone. I do have a soft spot for these. I currently don't have one in 380, guess I'll add that to the list. I do like my Sig P938 and the bigger Star Firestars in 9mm and 40 S&W
