I've had this for a few years now. 20201026_161511.jpg
I've always loved everything about it except the ugly graphics. So I took the slide over to Tom's Custom Coatings in Blanchester, Ohio to see what he could do for it. He does some pretty outstanding Cera-Cote work, so I thought about just having the slide coated. 20210611_172420.jpg
This is just blasted and polished up a little. The Tribal stuff was cut pretty deep, so an outline is still noticeable if you look for it. Concerned that a nice new coating may make the cuts look even more pronounced. I believe I can live with it now though. 20210611_172430.jpg

Cool gun. I'm about 10 minutes from Blanchester. I've passed that shop several times but have never stopped in.

You should definitely stop in. I'd never dealt with them before but they're some really friendly folks. Full service FFL and licensed to sell suppressors as well.
Not sure what they cost but have you considered just ordering a new slide without the art work?
I'd looked and looked. Even called Sig. They don't sell them.

My 238 has all the rainbow-y tribal stuff too. I like it well enough, though it is a bit garish.

it was also the selling point for my wife, so it had an upside.

Funny thing, I do enjoy Monsters and do in fact wear my hat backwards (and torn jeans and Vans)

The place I work actually sands down batches of 1911 slides on a regular basis, to remove stamping or etching from the original manufacturer for custom work. So you could have it removed. Contact a few machine shops and see what they can do.

The guy that did the work told me he could take it all the way down if I decide to later. My camera must be better than my eyes though, because I can't see the lines in person nearly as well as they showed up in the pic. Most of all, I'm not seeing this every time I'm trying to shoot it. The top of the slide might be a little harder. But I figure with some of the more modern equipment, it should be possible.
