LGS is selling a .40 Sig P226 on consignment. I'm interested, especially if all it takes to convert to 9mm is new barrel and recoil spring (what weight?). New 9mm mags as well? (That's what I read, has anyone done it?)

Would also appreciate some help: If the price (as marked in picture) is fair. I figure there's a bit of flexibility, maybe $30 - $50. It's got 4 mags and looks good on the inside. (Those grips gotta go, but I think I have a set somewhere 'round.)

Thanks.

A left handed leo.... ive never seen a le trade in that was left handed. Ive mentioned that before. Lol

You missed the boat. They were 300-350 in better shape for a few years. But markets have changed i know. I bought 2 for under 350. Looked new with (dim) night sights. Plus LE ammo for 12-17 dollars a box

Also the pictures don't show the only part of the gun that may ever wear out. The soft frame rails are the only thing that matter on a 22x that you are actually going to shoot. Judging by the barrel wear id check out those frame rails before I even considered it. The frame rails on the older 226 had issues.

I've read nothing good from 40 to 9 conversions. I've read much better from 40 to 357 sig. I've not done either.

"Isn't the breach face different between the 40/357 Sig and the 9mm?"

To convert to 9mm from 40/357 a 9mm slide is used. With my P229 I can switch between 22LR and 9mm by just changing the top end and mag. Takes 30 seconds.

To answer the OP. To convert to 9mm you'll need a 9mm slide along with a barrel, spring and mag. You can piece together the parts for about $400 give or take. I wouldn't worry about wearing out the frame rails; Sigs are long lasting quality pistols. I think that's a good price, especially when you consider the extra mags. If I wanted a 40 I'd buy it.

It looks to be in good shape. With the extra mags it seems to be an ok deal considering today's market.

P226s are great shooters and they always fit my hands really well.

Recoil gun works has .40 mags for $19.99

It's DA/SA right? Some LE guns were DA only. There was another similar configuration for LE but not remembering it right now.

Have a P226 original flavor is 40.

It now sports a silencro 9mm barrel.

Yes on 40 P226, you can run a 9 barrel, the only difference is the breech is slightly bigger.
The barrel dia at the muzzle is the same and so is where it locks on at the rear.

My 40 mags feed 9 just fine, but for serious use I have 9 mags. I've measured the mags and lips can't find a difference.

226 and 229 are different guns and parts are not the same, just cause one can't on a 229 doesn't mean you can't on a 226.
