I'm just curious how many rounds do you average at the range, and how many times a year do you go? My friends think I'm crazy because I shoot anywhere from 300-500 rounds a trip. I try to go at least twice a month, if not every weekend. ( It's pretty much my only hobby) I don't shoot for competition, though I have been thinking about it. I just plink for fun.

I average around 8k-10k rounds a year plinking with my dad at his range. Everything from 9mm to 45-70. How about everyone else?

For me, "going to the range" means walking out my garage door as I have a 200 meter range across the berm of my lake's dam (with a 40+ meter backstop) right in front of me.

I don't "go to the range" per any schedule. It rather depends on whether I am developing a load, or if the local food bank needs someone to drive their truck or if one of my sons is visiting.

I'm the same, pistol range and target berms out to 760yds with steel in my back yard. My 100-300 yd bench also runs down my pond dam. So I do multiple "range trips" that might be a few as 10 rds to a couple hundred depending on what I'm working on. Often shooting sessions are just while taking a break from chores. I also shoot a couple IDPA matches a month and a 3 gun match.

Pond dam ranges must be more common than I thought...

Before the massive shortages? Once a week, and anywhere from 50-150 rounds per session....the range was literally two miles down the road. Now, that I cannot replace my handloads easily? Once a month and probably 50-100 rounds max.

When I was shooting I was at about that same level. I cast my own bullets for my .38/.357s shooting about 6K a year, then with other guns, CF rifle, shotgun, RF , I shot about 10K total. I did not reload for shotgun, and of course not for RF . Rifle cartridges all got reloaded.

I probably do not shoot as much as most. I get the urge about every three months (or so) - I’ll shoot 100 handgun (or so) rounds and 20 (or so) centerfire rifle - I go to relax and stay somewhat tuned up - I will hunt in most weather but I am a fair weather range guy. I enjoy shooting but not too much (too much for me). I am (I would guess) about above average in the accuracy department (thank you Uncle Sam). As I approach 70, I find shooting just to relax - slow, methodical, accurate fire - is the most enjoyable for me. Everything for me is slowly slowing down and it seems to be OK for that to happen. I will shoot as long as I can.

I was trying to get to the range every week and shoot 50 rounds through a CC gun. It's more like once every two or three weeks right now, which isn't good enough. I supplement with dry fire, which is somewhat helpful.

Shooting other guns I own is more intermittent. I'll work on my skills with certain guns when I have the desire. Mainly I'm tired from overtime or busy with other things. But there's always next week.

I go to one range or another several times a week. What I shoot dictates round count. Rimfire might be several hundred a trip. Centerfire pistol might be 50 to 100 a trip. Shotguns for clays is usually no less than 100 per trip.

The last 4 years or so I have slowed down drastically due to health problems, but before that I usually fired 16k of pistol, 3-4K of revolver, and ~1500 rifle. My goals going foreword are 15k of pistol, 5-7k of revolver, and 8-10k of rifle. I have components to load that for 5 years before needing a resupply.
I’m only shooting 9mm, 38, 357, and 223 with a little .22 thrown in now and again. Maybe this year I’ll shoot a couple hundred 20ga too.

It really depends on why I am going to the range. If I am doing load workup and evaluation it could be as few as 20 - 30 rounds. If I am just shooting I will usually shoot between 50 - 150 rounds depending on the calibers I am shooting that day. I usually average 2 - 4 range trips a month.

Very seldom right now! I had shoulder surgery four months ago and while it's improving I still can't extend my right arm out enough to shoot a sidearm.

I had my left rotator cuff surgery in November and it is still not back to 75% it was at before I messed it up. I’m holding off on the right shoulder till fall so I can shoot some this year yet, but it’s not comfortable. Follow the doctors orders and you will be ok. I didn’t and I’m paying for it.

My average used to be pretty close to yours. Maybe a lil more sometimes. I bet most people would consider that "high volume". A case or two a month is quite a bit, especially if you're not competing, etc...

I consider myself lucky to have been able to keep that pace for as long as I did and probably will again one day soon. It's crazy to think of the guys who compete who can burn up 100K+ rds in a year.

By comparison to a lot of folks here, I'm a casual shooter at best. How much I shoot depends on why I'm going. It's rarely more than about 200 rounds, though. I live in the city, with the range being at least 30 min away, so I'm lucky to go 4-6 times a year.

I shoot about once a week, but that's averaged out over a year. Some winters I might be lucky to get out once in the month. Since the ammo shortage my rounds per trip are less than 50, and I've shot as little as 15 if that was enough to do what I wanted to do on that trip. Almost never any more do I just shoot off the rest of what's in the box in order to use it up and toss the empty box at the range.

Not as much now as I used to shoot. I used to shoot 200 to 300 per gun I took to the range but now I only take about two guns & it's no more than about 50 rounds per gun.

My range is at my home but still don't get out as much as I'd like. I recently cleared some trees to do a handgun/ rimfire only shooting area right out the back patio so should help!!
To stay on track Id say 4-500 handguns rounds per month and maybe a few hundred rimfire. My rifles are dialed in but always do some verifying prior to season.

I go 1-3 times a week to one of the three local ranges I belong to during the summer while the corn takes over my home range . I usually shoot 50 times or less . I shoot from the bench mostly , testing my reloading skills gives me the most joy .
