Are there any good air rifles or airsoft guns out there? I’m looking for something to supplement my gun fix for when I’m not at the range shooting my real gun during those seasons. So any good recommendations on any good Prenumatic rifles or airsoft guns for under 460?

First let me start by getting a quick comment in that someone is sure to post. Airguns are real guns. You will be surprised at what they are capable of.

Next it would be good to know what you intend to use it for. Targets, hunting, plinking, what ranges and so on. As with anything the quality you get will be directly related to what you are willing and able to spend. You mention pneumatic and I am assuming you are probably referring to PCP's (pre charged pneumatic). They aren't my area of knowledge but you can certainly find whatever level of quality and capability you are looking for.

At any rate quality is definitely available. It can equal any powder burner you have.

I would avoid any of the big back stores as they are generally pushing the lowest end products. For what Walmart has and what they cost, you can get a hatsan 95 shipped to your door. Which will be a much more enjoyable experience. Also, if you want it to be quiet, pay attention to the velocity specs. Those 1200 fps guns you see advertised are loud. Like rimfire loud. You may want to go larger than .177 if you ever plan to hunt with it. Good luck and let us know what you decide.

Yeah I plan on doing target and plinking and yes I mean prenumaticacly charged and want to do target anything between 25 to 75 yards.

Check Pyramid Air.

I would go pellet over airsoft, but I am biased.

More info on what you want to do with it and where will help us help you.
Thanks for the recommendation on store! I’ve used them in the past. Oh only reason why I mentioned airsoft as they got more tactical style stuff I wish Pellet rifles had those options with AR style stocks and pistol grips but those are thousands of dollars lol.

SIG makes a whole line of their tactical rifles in CO2 and PCP pellet variants. I have no experience with them but they may scratch your “itch” so to speak.

That is exactly what I’m looking for! Curious how accurate is the Sig PCP rifle? And are there any similar tacticool style air rifles either that or some nice thumbhole stock ones or PCP a guns that have carbine conversion kits like those target pistols might have?

I like my RWS 34 springer in .177...........a .22 PCP would be sweet but the compressor needed to refill the tank costs a lot as it needs to be able to go upwards of 4500psi.

I bought a used/refurb Daisy Avant (M853) pellet rifle from CMP for $120, and it's awesome. With relatively boring pellets, it's minute of chipmunk out to 10 meters, and just silly fun.

One thing's for sure: if you miss it was your own fault!

"Decent" is a subjective thing in too many ways. Which actually makes it an achievable goal.

In Airsoft, the best bet is typically to focus on things that are difficult to otherwise own. M-249, BAR, etc. Some of the more unique sniper rifles are pretty cool in airsoft. If best expressed in feet rather than yards.

The metal SMGs can be quite fun as well. Electric is often easier than gas-driven; the latter can be more fun, though.

There is a spiffy set of gas-driven pistols, especially the Lugers that are fun. There's a artillery version with stock that's pretty cool.

Now, in airguns, that's a whole realm unto itself. The PCP rigs are very interesting--and not exactly the sort of "backyard" fun other air guns might.

I have many air rifles and pistols. My 2 faves are my Ruger impact max. And my Beeman P17 pellet pistol. Both are accurate. The Ruger i bought from Midway USA on sale for 100.00. I shoot the pistol in doors on bad weather days. I have a bullet trap i use. And even the Daisy red rider and buck bb guns are fun indoor shooters.

During this ammo drought, I picked up an entry level PCP and have been quite surprised at its accuracy and consistency.
I've been shooting it out to 100 yards with really impressive results.

The picture is of my Umarex Origin. It was right at $300 with a hand pump. All I had to do was add an optic.

Most if not all of the PCPs have at least some adjustment to the power. Some just to the hammer spring, but regulated guns can also be adjusted as to the pressures supplied to the valve that the hammer strikes.
Mine is hammer spring adjustable only, and it's good that it has any adjustment because as it came out of the box, at 35 yards it would blow nice clean holes through the sheet of 3/4 plywood that I hung my targets on.

There are a lot of fun airsoft arms. That said, I would not go for the unique guns, rather I would recommend focusing on airsoft arms that mimic, as closely as possible, real arms in one's collection. This allows for more useful home practice.

Back when I was trying to like Glocks, I painted an airsoft replica of what I had. I painted it to avoid, "I can't believe I just did something that stupid," types of mistakes. I then used the airsoft pistol for draw and fire drills, along with other familiarization.

The problem with airsoft is that they are not very accurate. At least not when compared to pellet guns and regular firearms, as you mentioned, distances should be thought of in feet. There is also the issue of them being considered firearms in many cities and towns, at least as far as, "discharge of a firearm in city limits," laws. So, backyard practice is probably still not a good idea and inside the house, the practice should be with the curtains drawn.

I can’t speak to the accuracy as I have no hands on experience with them, in passing though, folks seem generally happy with them and the price point is more or less attainable (in relation to the sport/peer weapons etc. I know everybody has a different personal idea of monetarily attainable)

As for other options Benjamin has a few models you can customize with AR stocks or similar IIRC. beyond that if you wanna get out the old wallet and make it rain look at what FX has to offer and Evanix (sp) used to have some cool lookig guns. I think Hatsan has a gun that damn near looks like a Benelli shotgun. (Again I have no practical experience with these).

I might have lots of tactical Tupperware and a tricked out EBR or a few but when it comes to my airguns I am pretty Fudd Life. :). The vast amount of my airguns are very traditional and “pretty” so to speak.
