Looking for opinions on the dollar worth of this. Barrel is marked 1851 Army 44 caliber. Late 70’s perhaps. Fellow at my gun club wants to sell. I don’t have one so I’m interested.

Haven’t seen the gun, just the photos I posted. I told the club member what to look for in the way of a date code. I’ll meet him next week some time. Just looking for an opening offer.

Hello whughett,

It's an Italian Fantasy Revolver. Fun to shoot.
On GB it would probably bring as much as a new Pietta.

In 2011 Norton Commando posted:
"I'm considering the purchase of a Euroarms 1860 Colt. Does anyone have any experience with this brand and type of gun? Is it a quality piece? Dixie Gun Works has them on "sale" for $275, discounted from $325. I'm thinking about retiring my genuine 1860 Colt and wanted something to replace it. The Euroarms Colt seems reasonable at $275, if the quality is up to snuff."

Considering it's age and condition, I'd offer $200, maybe $225 based on how much you want to buy it and how much the seller wants for it.
It's harder to find replacement parts for them.
I thought that maybe some of the Euroarms guns had softer internals, but I can't find any complaints about them at the moment.
Most folks seem to like their other Euroarms models, and the gun looks like it's in great shape.
It's easier to increase an offer than to lower it after it's made. ;)

Thank you Arcticap. Browsing the net hadn’t turned up much. I’m thinking of offering $250, but your suggestion has merit.
I have two EuroArms, ASM, Roger and Spencer’s. Both seem quality and are good shooters. The parts availability is certainly an issue.

That sounds more then reasonable, all things considered and if the timing was excellent and the gun locked up nice and tight and the arbor was strong I'd offer 175 -215$. With a brand new cnc machined Pietta not being much more then that I couldn't justify paying 250 for it.

Either way let us know how it all works out!

Good luck on your purchase brother

Being as it's not actually HC (being .44 cal) and the fact that both Euroarms and Armi San Paolo are defunct, I'd make a good solid offer of 200 and go from there. But that's just me.

After visiting the local BP store this past weekend and viewing their inventory of used BP revolvers I agree with Captain Kirk; $200 seems right on the money.

If you ask him what he wants for it, he may surprise you and say $150.
That's what they always ask on the Pawn Stars TV show, "How much are you looking to get for it?" :D

That will be my first question. After I make a big show of examining it. Hammer to the ear listening for the clicks, full cock cylinder lock up, spin the cylinder a few times at 1/4 cock. Pop the wedge, pull the barrel, look down the bore. Gotta check all the barrel and frame markings, whip out the smart phone and Google the date stamp yadda yadda. You know the drill. :).

But I got a feeling he’s going to want more than I’ll pay. :(

Well the gentleman only wanted $150.00 for the gun. In it’s original box with powder flask. The box is postmarked 1972 and was from Centennial Arms.
Wedge has few dings from a hammer and the front sight has been touched with a file other than that it’s in pristine shape. The cylinder has the deepest roll engraving of the Texas Naval Battle I’ve seen. So now I’ve acquired another percussion piece….

Not to take away from the decent deal you got, but my experience has been that my local market has very little interest in BP and so in recent years, I have been able to pick up those old obsolete side lock rifles from folks looking for a proper inline for give or take $50 asking price.
Same goes for C&B revolvers almost. I have heard more times than I can count about how the LGS offered me $50 for my Colt Walker, or other revolver.
I ask them what they want for the revolver and I seldom find their asking price something I can say no to

Shot the 44 “Navy” yesterday. As expected shot just like my other three Colts Army. :)
Extremely light trigger and extremely tight fitting wedge. It’s takes some serious hammer blows to unseat that wedge. I don’t think it’s normal. Seems oversized.
This gun is definitely a candidate for the kids touch.
The purchase price can validate the tune up cost I think. ;)
