Gunbroker silliness

Not only can you put in a description, the sellers can add key words to their ad. The sellers that have been on there a long time have a list of “key” words a mile long. Some of the searches could be picking up key words conveniently placed in the ad. I am on there all the time and do multiple searches to find things. Still miss a bucket list item quite often.

Have you ever tried to search thru the various categories to narrow your search?
Apparently GB does not want it to be easy
Why you ask?
Under manufacturers you will find Smith and Wesson & Smith and Wesson/ S&W, Thompson Center & Thompson/Center, Ruger & Sturm, Ruger & Co., and Ariska & Arisaka among others.
Under calibers: 22 Mag, .22 Mag. & .22 WMR, .30-30 & .30-30 Win. and three flavors of .30-06

Make you wonder if the people running the site are actual gun owners.
I haven't sold, so I don't know if the seller chooses the category.

But yeah, it's a pain in the butt to search for some things. You can't even try to look at semiauto rifles without getting 17 million AR lowers (note- I don't want to price a lower on gunbroker, I want to search actual complete rifles).
It's also frustrating to put in a specific word, and get a lot of "not that"; for example, put FAL in. You will get a number of non-FAL rifles, because the seller put "Not FAL" in the title and description.

Try to search for a model 70 winchester on there. Or a model 700 remington.
It really isn't their fault, if you look at how many versions there are of each one
there are so many that don't have a specific, like my favorite deer rifle.
It is a [ model 70 winchester in 7mm magnum ] so that is all it says, wonder if that
makes it a standard model or whatever. 26 inch bbl, synthetic stock, matt finish.
But there is no standard finish.
I have never needed anything for it, just wondered what people were asking for them.
I don't think it is GB's fault because of all the versions with extravagant models or
no model names at all, maybe we are supposed to know what year & model it is
by serial #.
Never been disappointed with any product I have purchased there but maybe like
others here I have given up because of the confusion.
I know it's my fault.
