Did some load testing today with the Ruger. 3 shot group sub 1/4. The thing has continually out performed not only its price tag, but my Bergara HMR. Anyone else getting similar results or did I get a gem?

Very fine rifles and the comparison to Bergara, a much more expensive line of rifles, is apt. Ruger seems to have nailed it with the American line, in everything but the looks department. It’s remarkable how many very accurate rifles are made these days at quite affordable prices. Ruger seems to have achieved what just 10 years ago was almost solely the domain of Savage: remarkable consistency and accuracy, albeit without a great deal of deference to beauty ;-)

Both of my Go Wilds were about that good with 143s and 147s.
My 7 mag was about a .75 gun, the 300aac was a 1-1.5moa gun but i shot garbage out of it.

The 3 Americans ive worked with are pretty solid .75 guns.

At what distance was that group fired?

100 yard bench at the local range with zero wind. It does almost the same with 129 Hornady interlocks. Vortex Viper 6.5-20 and an aftermarket trigger spring and deadair break. Do I think it’ll do that every time? No! Lol But it should be consistently under 3/4 with that load.

I can’t get mine to do better than an inch with anything over 130’s! But I’m not complaining!

Mine has a “dealer exclusive” camo pattern stock. Glades armory bolt handle and a deadair break. Jazz’s it up a little!

When I come home and show targets like that to my wife the only thing she says is, "You missed the bulls eye"

I've had good luck with the Predators too. I don't like the standard models as much. My 223 takes AR magazines, the 308 uses AI style magazines and the 6.5 CM Ruger standard American mags. All consistently shoot under 1" and I'll often get bragging size ragged one hole groups with them.

I had a couple of Bergara rifles. A B14 Hunter in 6.5CM and B14 Ridge in 308. The 6.5CM was pretty accurate, but no more so than the Ruger. I could never get the 308 to shoot up to my expectations so I let both go. Bergara does a good job of making their stocks "LOOK" nicer. But they are still a cheap injected molded plastic stock just like Ruger uses. And the "V" block bedding system Ruger uses is a better idea that does not require a stiff stock for accuracy.

The Americans have crept up in price though. I've seen standard rifles sell for $250 in the past. I paid $350 for my Predators. I see that now some places are getting closer to $450-$500 for the Predators. At that price a $500-$600 Tikka starts looking like an option. I've found Tikka to shoot just as well and I like the mags better. But at the price point Ruger is hard to beat.

Tikka is no longer a $600 rifle. They are running more like $900 these days for a t3x (at least the left handed ones I am looking for)

I've been looking at a lefty gun, and a t3x, b14hmr, and ruger predator are my top 3. It would be mostly a target gun capable of hunting, and I'm recoil shy, so the heavy bergara is kind of at the top of my list. In the shop, it had a much nicer action than the ruger, though the stock wasn't a perfect fit. Can the ruger action slick up? It had a noticibly heavier bolt open and close, and the back and forth was like cordory pants. And the safety it proud and gets under the web of my hand.

Yeah my Tikka T3X 223 was 900. But in can’t speak much on if the action smoothed out on mine. It seems pretty alright now, but in don’t remember what it was 2 years ago. But my aftermarket bolt handle really helped the bolt lift while cocking. Glades armory! But it’ll never be Bergara smooth.
