New York hunters

You can also contact the folks where you took the course, they may be able to give you the name of the instructor . I did that for my son, he took the course and did not go for a license until years later . He had actually lost his certificate but the folks at the Rod and Gun club knew who past instructors were . I tracked down the name and I contacted the DEC with my story and they straightened thing out . Guessing they must have contacted the instructor to make sure things checked out . Good luck.

That’s a good idea, I took it so long ago in an area I don’t even remember. I’m just going to bring my original hunter safety certificate with me.

Sorry they didn't pass you for the job. What was their comment?
Forty years ago I tried to get into the NY State Police and at that time you had to be a minority to have any chance at all.

Hunting licenses go on sale August 10th.
I will phone mine in on that day.

Are the enhanced driving licenses required to fly now or has that been postponed?
My airline tickets will be bought here shortly.
Don't know about needing the advanced one of not, I would have had mine in March when my license was renewed but couldn't get it with the ronna going on.

For two big woodchuks today, one was huge dang thing probably wouldn't fit in a medium havahart trap. Maybe 11-12 pounds. That Aquila sss super subsonic does the trick on them, if your gun will Stabilize them there about the quietest ammo I've used. More energy then a bb cap and probably a short. I'm down to less then 50 tho, have not seen any for sale in 6-7 years around here.

Was smiling several today myself, none that big though. How far away were they.
About 7 yards maybe, there under are shed I have to wait just before sundown to see them. The heavy rain stoped a little so bad my chance today. Sometimes I'll see them in the morning to. The next door neighbor was happy they been eating from the garden and are under there shed to.

You guys are lucky, they have Rockchucks (about the same size as woodchucks) over in Eastern Washington.
Not worth the drive to go shoot any of them .
Plus they have sage rats as well but most of the property is private and so it goes.
I live right in the city and we have feral cats so my options are to live trap them and then dispose of them.
They say CAT, the other white meat. I will never eat cat or dog meat no matter how much they say it taste like pork or chicken.
But a half grown woodchuck, you bet I would.

Nice shooting Troy.
I will be back for two weeks at the end of October, we need to all get together for surf fishing and or squirrel hunting.
Jim will be setting traps for coon & Fisher during Fisher season.

Daniel Craig will you have a day or two to come to Broome/Chenango county to hook up and meet us pigeons from down south.
Post a day and I will host a BBQ.
I will post the dates when I fly in with my grandson.

Well now that I’m single and I find myself with a lot more time… I may very well be able to do this!

I got the offset smoker at my dads so could bring some stuff to the bbq.

Troy, have you ever hunted Cornell college? They do a late season hunt in January (or February, I can’t remember). I did it one year didn’t have any luck I remember it being pretty inexpensive way to hunt though because I don’t remember having to pay any kind of special fee..

I will probably buy the airline tickets this coming week for the two weeks in October and the 4 weeks for deer hunting.
Once I get the tickets acquired we can set up a date and place for a bbq. Over at Hawkins Pond Park in Windsor they have a nice pavilion with a fireplace and bathrooms.

I have only hunted there maybe twice about forty years ago. But when my kids were younger I use to take them there so they could fish while I BBQed dinner.
It would be a nice place for all of us to have a good meet & greet and coordinate this up coming deer season.
If you guys need to borrow some cash to buy your hunting licenses let me know so you don't miss out on doe tags. The go on sale in a week & a half (August 10th).
I can Walmart to Walmart the cash to you.

I,m looking forward to the two weeks in October to set my trail cams out, have our BBQ, get some squirrel hunting done, a couple of days up in Old Forge, take my grandson to the waterfalls up in Ithaca and have two weeks away from the old lady. L

Pat mentioned maybe doing some fishing on this year's trip, I am at the moment taking with a charter boat captain from the ny angler forum. We would have to discuss price now many and a date, Oct -nov is prime time fishing for black sea bass, blackfish, fluke, porgy, stripers, and many more fish. All really good eating and could fill a cooler for each person.

have to see who would all go, think he like 4-5 people at most so the price evens out with more people.

Burt not sure if you like fishing or have saltwater fish but it's good fun and bottom fishing anyone can do.
He is out of greenport N.Y., Which is a ride but some of the best waters on the east coast. I think Mason would like it.
