I've been trying to get the VMAX to shoot in my 5.56 chambers without luck. I saw the cheap price and thought the same thing.

The 55gr VMAX with Varget worked well for me out of a 5.56 chamber.
Always come back to Varget in Med burn rate
53 is way different than the 55. I've only gotten it to shoot well jammed in the lands. I'm trying to find a powder that will work with it jumping.

In that situation go faster...
This is supposed to be a faster burn rate than any of my other powders.
I ran into hard compression on imr3031, h4895, imr4064, 8208xbr, and cfe223.
I'm trying to replicate what I've found with my mil-surp rifles where faster powders pushed hard make the jump.
I was digging for the 53 gr bullets and came across some 62 hpbt.

Looks like the velocity did not always increase as powder increased; sometimes velocity went down quite a bit. Is it unusual to have that much variation?

.looks like you need a better sample size to get usable information. 5 each should at least show the sd spread for a smoother average.
When I've used a sky screen while shooting a ladder at 300 yards I've seen it quite a bit.
A larger sample would definitely help it.
But the results at 24.7-25.3 are close enough for me to look into it.
More would definitely get rid of the noise.
I'm going to wait till the wind dies.
