Musings on Handguns

Yeah, well when u only get 30 shots before the Co2 can has to be replaced you want to make that as easy as possible. The rifle version uses the 88gr Co2 which gives it over 200 shots before it needs replacing.

I like using the little CO2 cartridges, and I'll probably never adopt the large cartridges, so I could live with 30 shots like I already do with my current CO2 guns. :)

I forgot my contribution to the airgun discussion. I don't shoot them much any more since we moved out of the neighborhood and back to some acreage but these are really nice and fun to shoot. CO2 also opens some full auto options, can't find a picture of mine.

I had no idea such a thing existed. Thank you for posting that and if you have more pictures, please, I'd love to see more.

Went to add it to to my bucket list when I realized I didn't know what I was asking for.
Can you provide a little history?

The thing about being able to have a general CWP prior to Michigan going to Shall Issue, is that it made buying a handgun a bit easier back then and certainly without any trouble since Shall Issue. As a result, and because I was young, I wound up buying a fairly wide variety of handguns from S&W, Colt, Glock, Beretta, Walther, and Ruger. I still have a good deal of them, but I generally only carry two; a Ruger LCP for when I'm wearing shorts and t-shirts for pocket carry and a Ruger EC9s when I'm wearing clothes that conceals it in a outside the waistband paddle holster. I suppose I should think about selling all the rest of them as they mostly just sit in my safe.

With the rifle and the larger cartridge it's close to 200 fps more.

I'll just find someone to refill my tank when it goes empty.

A Colt Woodsman Match Target and a Smith & Wesson 686+ with a five inch barrel.

The latter would, of course, be quite serviceable for defense, but I do not carry openly, nor do I keep it at hand for home defense.
Colt Woodsman Match Target, now you are talking one sweetheart of a shooter, have had mine 60+ years.

Forgot to add if memories are correct, Tucson, AR had a RAPIST, had committed 33 rapes, was working on his 34th when rattleing the chain lock on her bedroom door woke her up. She grabbed her Colt .22 Match Target and preceded to shoot thru said door starting at about bollocks height and after eleven shots about head high. Seconds later she heard a loud thud, reloaded, called the police, investigation proved later he ( code named " Red Baron ") ceased to exist. He was married, had 6 children. WHY?? GO FIGURE?????

Gave up hunting nearly 30 years ago. Still enjoy shooting targets with big revolvers (maybe not so big, but bigger than average) but much less often than before. Shoot mostly 22 and light target loads with 45 ACP or 38 Special. I don't seem to visit the range as often as I used to & most of the guys I enjoyed sharing time with there are not going so much either. Would like to do a little more trap shooting but can't find shot shells.

Yeah, I'm beginning to feel it happening too.

You need some .32's in your life.

.32 acp-.32 s&w Long = low recoil.

.32 Magnum can poke holes in plenty of things.

.327 fed mag is hot stuff you may not want to fire.

So get a .327 fed mag revolver and you can fire 5 cartridges from it. Very affordable if you reload.
Five?? My GP100 holds 7 rounds, 85 grain just under 1650 FPS, 100 grain 1549 FPS, both bullet types Hornady XTP'S. Pretty sure equals 357 Magnum performance, sure does put a BIG HOLE in a sheep-eating Coyote tho!!

I enjoy shooting the guns that have but I do not shoot many, if any, full power loads any more. One of the advantages of reloading.

I've not loaded any full power 357 Magnum ammunition since 2004 or 2005 and my 44 Magnums have never seen a full power 44 Magnum round.

Well, I did buy a Python in 2020 and fired a cylinder full of full power loads. (Some of those loads from 2004 or 2005).

I have no intentions of reducing my inventory of guns any time soon.

I cannot imagine shooting through an opaque door at someone rattling the chain.

This woman's reaction to an unseen "threat" is about the most outrageous disregard for human life and lack of common sense that I've heard of in a very long time. Simply stunning how some people react to the sound of "a bump in the night".

I won't say it was a good idea but I understand why she did it. I know that if I'm awakened at 2am by the sound of someone at my bedroom door and my wife is still in bed, it's safe to assume that the person on the other side is probably going to need shooting. Bear in mind that I'm 6'1" and have been of 'this' mindset for decades. I'm confident in my ability to employ a firearm for self defense and physically capable of putting up a fight. Men don't typically worry about getting raped. My wife could probably whip five gang bangers herself. Put in the context of a single young woman, already afraid because there's a serial rapist on the loose, rightfully so because he's now at her door, I can easily see them shooting through a door at an unseen threat. She obviously made the right call because she shot someone who had already earned the death sentence many times over.

Forgot to add hall light outside of door, seen arm and hand thru partially open door attempting to unfasten chainlock, single living by herself, boyfriend in Service, " Red Baron's MODIS OPERANDI"!!! Respect your opinion, but take into consideration what nightmares women go thru after being brutaly raped and lifethreated!!!!

Ahhh, a wise man indeed, well prepared for life's nastys!!

Does it really cost you time and money just to have firearms sit in your safe??? Is it not better to have and not need, than need and not have???? My life has proven many many many times over to have, beats the hell out of have not!!

Second response, If you sir walk into someone's home LATE at night, a total stranger, all lights turned off, normal time for most people to be in bed sound asleep and you are rattleing a chain lock on a bedroom door in a home not yours you damn well deserve to be shot full of holes, you sir are NOT using common sense, IF you were not up to no good you WOULD KNOCK ON THE FRONT DOOR!!!! The Chief of Police and County Sherrif both shook her hand, thanking her for a job well done!!

If you ever get a chance, try a steel frame, full size 1911 in 9mm. Heavy for carry purposes but man, what a soft shooter.
